We’re recruiting for a Senior Brand Manager (Brand Lead) to join our Brand and Insight team.

 

We’re the team responsible for understanding our members, developing relevant and distinctive brand and membership propositions, and executing creatively across media channels. This role we’ve got has a particular focus on media buying and planning. You’ll own the brand media budget and work with partners to plan media campaigns that build brand equity, grow awareness and consideration, and deliver strong returns on investment.

You will be joining the Brand and Research team consisting of 5 Brand Leads and 6 Research Specialists, part of the broader CMO (Marketing) function. We work closely with other Marketing teams including Money and Homes communications and Corporate Affairs, as well as product and distribution teams. Our primary areas of focus are to build a Group brand in leveraging the power of our individual businesses, reinvigorate the Building Society brand, make membership matter, and evolve our media buying approach to access our target audience.

What Will You Be Doing?

 

As a Senior Brand Manager (Brand Lead), you’ll help drive the development and execution of the brand, with a key responsibility for media buying and planning. The role encompasses brand creative and the delivery of marketing plans, campaigns and initiatives that build the brand and support the Group’s goals. You’ll:

  • Plan and execute media campaigns across channels (digital, print, TV, social media etc.) that build brand equity, grow awareness and consideration, and deliver strong returns on investment.

  • Own the brand media budget (c£6m p.a.) to deliver against agreed brand KPIs, ensuring activity is in line with corporate plan objectives.

  • Establish KPIs to measure the success of brand initiatives, forecast expected outcomes and provide input into summaries of brand performance.

  • Analyse media performance data and brand metrics and deliver appropriate recommendations and actions to support brand growth.

  • Develop a clear, objective overview of brand performance using econometrics, audit, brand tracking, creative testing, test & learn and engage other third-party research techniques where appropriate.

  • Use this view to inform strategic priorities and help shape the brand team’s approach and output.

  • Identify and implement partnership and sponsorship opportunities that support the brand strategy.

 

What Do We Need From You?

The ideal candidate needs to have extensive media planning and buying experience and demonstrate strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills. They need to cultivate strong relationships throughout the organisation and with agency partners, driving a brand agenda that resonates internally as well as externally.

You should have experience in delivering initiatives that grow brand equity, awareness and consideration and have a good knowledge of brand strategy, management, and planning techniques.

A commercial mindset is required, with a focus on delivering returns on marketing investment, alongside an in-depth knowledge of the UK Financial Services market.

You must also be member-focussed with experience in developing propositions that meet the needs of a defined target audience.
