Rakuten Rewards is seeking a visionary Senior Manager, Analytics to spearhead our data-driven initiatives. This role is pivotal for someone who can inspire a team of top-tier data scientists and analysts, guiding significant strategies like fraud detection and payment executions, and shaping the future of Rakuten Rewards through advanced analytics and AI-driven strategies. The successful candidate will drive the development of a centralized data product that promotes a self-service culture, ensuring data integrity with external partners and translating complex analytics into actionable business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy: Lead a team of data scientists and analysts, developing strategies that impact millions of users on Rakuten Rewards’ platforms.
  • Project Management: Oversee analytics projects from inception to completion, collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to inform and execute business strategies.
  • Strategic Influence: Deliver clear and persuasive analytics insights to senior management, directing the strategic orientation of products and services.
  • Analytics and Problem Solving: Tackle a wide range of challenges using a variety of analytical and statistical methods to produce actionable insights, emphasizing improvement in revenue growth and cost efficiency.
  • Performance Metrics: Define and monitor key performance indicators, using them to guide goal setting, forecasting, and performance monitoring to pinpoint trends and opportunities.
  • Innovation and Process Improvement: Promote the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to optimize business processes and decision-making capabilities throughout the organization.
  • Advancement of Data Science: Champion best practices in data analysis, mentorship, and process enhancement, extending knowledge and tools throughout the organization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, or a related field.
  • High proficiency in SQL, Tableau, and a scripting language (Python/R).
  • Exposure to Graph Databases, understanding their application and benefits.
  • Experience managing high-performing teams.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven leadership experience (5+ years) in an analytics or data science role, preferably within e-commerce or a similar industry.
  • Strong analytical skills, including expertise in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working cross-functionally and presenting complex information in an accessible manner.
