We are looking for an engineer to lead the design, development, manufacture, and test rocket engine turbomachinery components that will drive the next era of human space travel. Based in the heart of Rocket City — Huntsville, AL — you’ll join a team of dedicated engineers at our Research Park engine production facility, where you will see your work come to life as you help develop and build the next generation of booster engines and launch systems.

This role entrusts you with the full spectrum of turbomachinery and rocket engine development, from initial design through production and operational support. You will be responsible for leading design and producibility advancements to reduce cost, increase quality, and optimize performance of our rocket engine turbomachinery components and assemblies. A solid track record in mechanical design, a self-driven attitude, and a passion for aerospace innovation are key to excelling on our fast-paced, results-oriented team. A capability to lead, mentor, and propel our mission forward through continuous improvement and technical leadership within a multidisciplinary team is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 5+ years proven track record in production, manufacturing, and assembly of turbomachinery components
  • Strong knowledge of hardware fabrication and quality control
  • Solid understanding of rotating machinery component design and manufacturing including turbines, impellers, cases, bearings, and seals
  • Proficiency in data analysis and post-processing to assess component health
  • Ability to effectively lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to effectively distill issues and effectively communicate complex technical data at a high level
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Experience with quality management systems supporting aerospace and propulsion-related hardware
  • Experience transitioning products from development to production
  • Experience with product production, qualification testing, and flight operations
  • Ability to effectively lead multi-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with turbomachinery specific to rocket engine applications
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
