Managing Director - Climate Risk – Head of Climate Analytics and Stress Testing (Hybrid)
Job Purpose:
The Head of Climate Analytics and Stress Testing leads the vision, strategic roadmap, and enterprise program requirements to develop a coherent methodological climate analytics framework, centralized processes and infrastructure, and climate stress testing operating model with clear roles and responsibilities. This is a senior leadership role within the Enterprise Climate Risk team reporting to the Global Head of Climate Risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enterprise Climate Analytics and Stress Testing Methodology: lead end-to-end development of climate risk related analytics and stress testing methodologies across all key areas of risk identification, scenario design, data management, model build, reporting and usage of results
- Central Program Design and Governance: provide central senior leadership to manage stakeholders across first line, risk, research and other functions; ensure proper enterprise-level governance over climate risk analytics activities; review key output and oversee application of results (e.g., embedding in risk processes, scorecards)
- Enterprise Climate Risk Model Sponsorship: own business requirements and subject matter expertise around climate risk model strategy (internal and vendor tools); ensure analytical capabilities are aligned with business needs and industry practices as model sponsor
- Board and Senior Management Reporting: communicate key takeaways and learnings at senior business and risk forums; promote clear, consistent messaging of top climate/sustainability priorities
- Regulatory Engagement: address regulatory expectations for managing climate-related risk measurement approaches; communicate progress updates on climate scenario analysis to external stakeholders
- Industry Engagement: Engage with senior representatives across external industry bodies, academic and research institutions, and major vendor providers to benchmark progress against evolving industry standards, proactively identify enhancement opportunities, and stay abreast of key industry developments

Knowledge/Experience:
- Strong climate analytics and stress testing experience (climate data, scenarios, models, reporting)
- A proven track record of liaising across diverse senior stakeholder groups; including senior managers, and large firm networks
- Strong familiarity with the increasing regulatory expectations facing banks with respect to Climate Risk
- Experience in leading change projects and/or building / delivering new strategic capabilities
- Experience in managing external consultants
Skills:
- Excellent leadership skills to manage and develop central team of climate risk SMEs
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to understand drivers and overcome barriers
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively in a high-volume and complex environment with changing priorities with a practical solutions-driven approach
- Will be conversant in the organizational skills demanded to operate in a large global company
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, with a commanding and convincing delivery and the ability to synthesize complex concepts, translate into ‘user friendly’ language and effectively present in long-form documents or slide format
- Strong quantitative skills and strong attention to detail
Qualifications:
- Advanced academic degree, relevant equivalent working experience and leadership track record in a managerial capacity
Competencies:
- Thought leader with ability to spearhead innovation of new enterprise climate analytics to support consistent forward-looking climate risk measurement
- Able to own vision for global climate model/processes enhancements and solve for complex analytical challenges in an emerging, nascent field against a rapidly evolving business landscape
- Proven ability to partner and collaborate across an organization, cut through barriers, and cultivate collaborative partnerships across business lines and functions to develop strategic capabilities
- Strong tenacity and resilient under pressure and self-motivated in a fast paced and demanding environment
- Highly engaged, strong attention to detail, and outcome oriented
- The role demands a strong work ethic, willingness to ‘roll up sleeves’
- Strong analytical problem solving and the person should have a high level of integrity to deal with highly confidential data

This is a C16 banding role and to be considered for the Managing Director level title, candidates should already hold this title within their current role / firm.
