What we need 

We’re looking for a Solution Engineer to join our solution design team within our Sales organization. As a Solutions Engineer you’ll leverage your expertise of the Symbotic system to custom fit our technology to meet customer needs as part of the sales process. In addition to strong analytical and problem-solving skills used as part of the design process, you should be comfortable presenting to key decision makers both internally and externally to Symbotic. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential for success. 

What we do 

The Solutions Engineering team is part of the Sales organization which plays a critical role driving revenue and growth by actively engaging with customers, understanding their needs, and presenting solutions that address those needs effectively.  The Solutions Engineering team are a trusted source of technical and analytical expertise within the Sales organization for both internal and external customers. 

What you’ll do 

• Design, engineer, and layout new solution configurations and designs that will integrate Symbotic systems in our customer’s facilities. 

• Working closely with designers, develop comprehensive warehouse layouts using AutoCAD. 

• Interface with Systems Engineering for process definition and advanced modeling needs. 

• Capture customer requirements to support product management in producing market requirement documents. 

• Engineer new solutions that deliver improved productivity and value. Understand our customer’s business challenges, motivations for automation, operational processes and engineer new solutions that deliver improved productivity and value. 

• Data modeling using Microsoft Excel, MS Excel PowerPivot, SQL databases and Access. Develop and maintain automation modeling tools. Analyze customer data sets with these tools to size and specify the appropriate automation equipment. 

• Financial analysis, business case justification, and cost/benefit tradeoffs.  

• Transform business needs into specific hardware, software, or system- level recommendations leading to solutions that enhance our value proposition. 

• Attending sales calls with the sales team to answer technical questions about Symbotic. 

• Assist the sales team with the proposal development (configuration, pricing). 

• Produce clear and concise executive communication (written, presentation, customer). 

• Strong presentation skills with the confidence to present to large, executive-level audiences. 

• Creating and maintaining a professional teamwork environment and being an excellent team player while working with various members of the engineering teams.

What you’ll need 

• BS/BA in engineering, operations research, science or business; MBA or Master’s in Engineering preferred. 

• 3+ years’ experience 

• Proven track-record managing complex projects and proposals in the automated materials handling industry. 

• Demonstrated leadership experience with cross-functional teams; indirect leadership experience should be evident. 

• Experience with financial analysis, business case justification, and cost/benefit tradeoffs. 

• Prior experience writing sales proposals. 

• Possess extremely strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Data modeling experience and advanced capabilities using Microsoft Excel, MS Excel PowerPivot, SQL databases and Access. Programming skills a plus. 

• Strong presentation skills with the confidence to present to large, executive-level audiences. An ability to present complex concepts to customers with varying backgrounds. 

• Excellent team player, able to work professionally with members of various engineering teams. 

• Excellent critical-thinking skills. 

• Travel up to 10% of the time.
