About the role

The Data Manager is responsible for managing all data collection activities in the Cardiology Department under the guidance of the site Principal Investigator(s). You will ensure optimal clinical management of eligible, consenting trail patients according to study protocol criteria. You will Prepare and maintain data relating to the registries, ensuring quality control monitoring and auditing.  In addition, the Data Manager is responsible for producing reports, analysing and internally auditing site-specific data.

  • Be conversant with the requirements for the conduct of clinical research of the Institutional Ethics Committee according to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) guidelines for Good Clinical Research Practice (GCRP)

  • Ensure optimal clinical management of eligible, consenting trail patients under the supervision of the principal investigator according to study protocol criteria

  • Ensure accurate collection, documentation and archiving of data according to clinical trials protocols and the TGA guidelines for GCRP

  • Maintain the confidentiality of information regarding registry patients

  • Maintain databases of registry patients

  • Ensure suitable patients are identified for each registry and that patients receive opt-off consent forms relating to either and or both registries (if applicable).

  • Prepare and maintain data relating to the registries, ensuring quality control monitoring and auditing. Collect and enter data of relevant diagnostic tests

  • Call patients as part of follow-up for the registries

  • Provide education to staff, patients and their families to enhance understanding of the aims, expectations of registries and and research projects in which they are involved

  • Liaise with and network with other research departments external to St. Vincent’s Hospital, participating in research workshops, conferences and activities

  • Ensure work practices achieve optimal efficiency and quality of practice is maintained

  • Ensure the effective communication of relevant and accurate information within the multidisciplinary team

Classification Research Nurse Level 1 (RN10) to Research Nurse Level 3 (YX13)  (dependant on qualification)

Your contribution:

As the Data Manager you will have

  • Successful completion of Bachelor of Nursing qualification and current AHPRA registration

  • Proven data management skills and competency with Microsoft Office.  

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines

  • Advanced Clinical nursing skills with Cardiology and/or Cardiac Catheter Laboratory experience will be highly regarded.

Local Environment

SVHM Cardiology provides specialty care to both elective and emergency patients.Based at St Vincent’s Fitzroy campus the Cardiology data manager will be based in the Cardiac Investigation Unit (CIU). This encompasses the Cardiac Cather Laboratories, other clinical spaces, and shared office and administration areas. The Data Mananger will work alongside other members of Cardiology Department.
