Are you an experienced power engineering frontline leader that enjoys mentoring, managing, and coordinating? We're seeking a team lead to join our Upgrading Sulphur team in Fort McMurray.

In this role you are accountable for the day-to-day management of safe, stable, efficient and reliable production within the operating area and all aspects of personnel management at the frontline level.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Five or more years of field operations or related experience in upgrading, refinery or oil and gas industry

  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a complex, dynamic operating environment

  • Deep understanding of maintenance, operations, and process safety standards

  • 2nd Class Power Engineering certification

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • Valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record  

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee a unionized workforce in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and ensure development and competency of the crew

  • Ensure all aspects of the Alberta Boilers Safety Association regulations are implemented in accordance with the applicable codes and acts

  • Assist with planning equipment isolation, control of hazardous energy and confined space entry preparation

  • Prepare and review operational job plans by investigating work requirements, preparing logical breakdowns and sequencing of work tasks taking into account multi-craft alignment

  • Maintain a visible presence in the field to foster employee engagement and assess work process effectiveness

  • Lead troubleshooting initiatives and engage appropriate cross-functional resources to analyze and correct operational and equipment problems

Location & other key details

  • You will work out of our Base Plant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta

  • The shift schedule is a 6 on / 6 off rotation (3 days/3nights)

  • This position is safety sensitive

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory

  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
