Job Description:

Department Overview: The Senior Group Risk Specialist provides a comprehensive and diverse range of risk management expertise to business and technology leaders. Facilitates the implementation of appropriate risk frameworks and performs independent oversight and challenge of related management activities to mitigate enterprise and/or business-wide risk exposures for key business segments or functional areas within the Bank. Furnishes commentary and recommendations based on risk strategy and industry leading practices.

Job Description:

  • Senior risk specialist providing oversight, challenge, and advisory services to executives, and business segment leaders to ensure that technology risk is appropriately managed throughout the full lifecycle
  • Integrates knowledge of the enterprise function or business segment strategy in leading the design and execution of technology risk management oversight and challenge activities across a portfolio of coverage domains/programs
  • Anticipates emerging business trends and regulatory/compliance risk issues as a basis for recommending large-scale product, technical, functional, or operational improvements
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to senior management in field of specialty; may lead team(s) of related specialists/experts
  • Advises on risk management strategy and leads the design and execution of independent oversight capabilities for challenging risk-related decisions and activities
  • Solves unique and ambiguous problems with broad impact; oversees policies, standards, controls procedures, and operating methods  that have significant technology and operational risk impact
  • Requires innovative thinking to develop new solutions which impact the technical or functional direction and resource allocation within an enterprise function or business segment
  • Works within general frameworks, policies, and industry guidelines
  • Engages stakeholders to take action; serves as a source of expert advice; influences change; frames information in a broader context that is consumable and actionable by stakeholders
  • Provides leadership guidance, makes recommendations, and collaborates with the business to ensure that technology risk is appropriately managed
  • Identifies and leads problem resolution for issues associated with complex projects/programs

Job Requirements:

  • Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position
  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate and/or 10+ years relevant experience
  • Extensive knowledge of technology risk management concepts and terminology combined with practical experience and demonstrated internal control acumen
  • Ability to formulate effective approaches for providing independent oversight and challenge across multiple interrelated technology domains/programs
  • Proficiency regarding technical policies, standards, and control procedures as well as regulatory/compliance requirements
  • Awareness of current and emerging industry, market, and competitor trends
  • Ability to influence strategic direction and provide advice to senior leadership
  • Skill in using advanced analytical software tools, data analysis methods, and specialized reporting techniques
  • Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement, and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion and ongoing sustainability of risk mitigation initiatives
  • Ability to make an impact, influence, and achieve results through critical thinking, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across a diverse population of stakeholders
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently as an individual contributor
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while balancing multiple priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
