SCUK Compliance Officer

Santander Consumer Finance UK (SCUK) is based in Redhill, Surrey and provides motor finance to a network of dealerships throughout the UK. We are currently looking for an organised Compliance Officer to join our busy team where you will support our Compliance Managers and Head of Compliance in ensuring that all regulatory requirements and standards are met by the business.

As part of this varied role and in addition to its core job responsibilities, you will be regularly rotated on a 6-month basis with other Compliance Officers in the department and you will get the opportunity to work on different areas such as Data Protection, Compliance Monitoring, Intermediary Oversight, Reporting, Horizon and Controls.

Please note this is a hybrid role with at least 3 days a week in the Redhill office. Remote workers will not be considered.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting management with day-to-day management of compliance matters within the business and ensure department goals are met
  • Helping the department meet its internal SLAs
  • Ensuring appropriate and timely engagement with stakeholders
  • Building internal relationships to foster a collaborative working environment
  • Escalating any compliance issues to the Compliance Manager
  • Professional representation of the department within the business and to external parties
  • Minuting compliance committees and fora including management of actions
  • Managing compliance mailboxes and triage queries in a timely and appropriate manner, seeking Manager input when required
  • Providing input on compliance sign off as required by the business.
  • Assisting in compliance and business projects as required as Compliance support
  • Attending external meetings and events as required
  • Actively looking for ways the department can improve its efficiencies and support the business better
  • Adhering to our commitment to Consumer Duty ensuring we put our Customers’ needs first and set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrable, working knowledge of the current UK regulation
  • Sound knowledge of the UK regulatory framework, including FCA rules and guidance
  • Ability to analyse, evaluate and communicate issues to stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Enthusiasm, and a desire to learn
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly
  • Able to build good relationships, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills, with a good eye for detail and accuracy
  • Perform well under pressure and work to tight deadlines
  • Well-developed report writing and I.T skills
  • Knowledge of the regulatory rules and guidance around Consumer Credit and Motor Finance (desirable – not essential)
  • A Compliance related qualification or in the process of working towards one (desirable)
  • Experience of delivering proposals/presentations at Senior Management level (desirable)
