Position Summary
This position can be in any Aetna office with an in office/work from home hybrid schedule OR work from home anywhere in the United States if not near an Aetna office. Must be willing to work EST hours at least one week a month.

  • Lead the process of setting large claim accruals for each monthly financial close establishing the monthly accrual schedule and deliverables.

  • Coordinate efforts of teammates and the communication with business partners in Claim Ops, Finance, and MEU to incorporate feedback into our case reserves.

  • Leverage Excel VBA and SQL to summarize initial and final reserve estimates used to assess financial performance.

  • Dive deep into the data to derive answers to questions about case reserve estimates.

  • Communicate results and proposed changes to actuarial leadership.

  • Design and execute periodic studies to improve our default estimates for case reserves as well as provider discounts to apply to billed large claims.
     

Required Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate is an actuarial student with the drive to learn and apply the latest actuarial techniques.

  • Demonstrates a high level of personal drive, technical acumen, and communication.

  • Must have passed a minimum of two actuarial exams and currently progressing toward attaining the ASA designation.

  • 2+ years of experience in a professional environment
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines for the monthly financial close

  • Foundational technical, analytical, and communication skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • SQL and VBA coding skills along with model building experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and improvement processes.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or another related field preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$46,988.00 - $112,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
