Position Summary:

Primarily responsible for analyzing the credit worthiness of various fixed income debt issuers issued by municipal and non-for-profit borrowers. Will also assist in analyzing other assets classes which can include corporate bonds, structured securities, or alternative investments. Participates in enhancing the investment research process and framework. May assist in the training and mentoring interns and incoming analysts.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes municipal debt issuers in multiple sectors and deals in the primary and secondary markets.
  • Develops and maintains written credit evaluations including issuer overview, industry and competitive analysis, financial statement analysis, relative value analysis, and other relevant information based on qualitative and fundamental factors. 
  • Monitors existing holdings within the portfolio and assists in maintaining the research database. 
  • Makes buy, sell, and hold recommendations to the portfolio managers both verbally and in writing within a relative value framework.
  • Aids in the analysis of other deals and issuers of other asset classes.
  • Performs quarterly valuations of various private debt and private equity investments.
  • May assist in the training and mentoring of interns and incoming analysts. 
  • Participates in enhancing the investment research process and framework.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Preferably in Finance, Accounting and/or Economics. 
  • 2 - 4 years in credit research or trading, industry analysis, financial research, or a related field.
  • Relevant coursework and internship experience will be considered.
  • CFA/MBA or willingness to pursue; required.
  • Relevant experience in the specific asset class a plus. 
  • Experience with the following a plus: Aladdin, Bloomberg, Python 
  • The selected candidate will work a hybrid work schedule which will require weekly reporting to our Chicago location.

The range for this position is $81,400 to $138,900. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and Kemper benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)
