About the Team:

The Data team at Postman serves as a central platform and analytics hub, addressing the diverse requirements of the entire organization. With over 70% of the organization actively engaged with our data tools, our data engineers and analysts collaborate seamlessly to meet the ever-growing demands. Operating as a lean and autonomous unit, we entrust each team member with responsibilities, fostering a culture of delegation and trust that ensures tasks are brought to successful fruition.

What you'll be doing:

We are in search of a seasoned Senior Engineering Manager, steering the course for our data engineering initiatives and concurrently overseeing the expansion of our existing data infrastructure. This role also entails active involvement in security and data governance endeavors.

As the Senior Engineering Manager for the Data Engineering Team, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Grasping the overarching vision of Postman and rallying the team to collaboratively work towards its realization, all while upholding the highest engineering standards.

  2. Taking charge of the end-to-end data platform - data ingestions, transformations, warehousing, BI etc. - crafting multi-quarter roadmaps, adeptly navigating constraints, and prioritizing tasks for optimal efficiency.

  3. Nurturing the team's growth and progression by engaging in meaningful discussions with team members about their career development. Ensure their advancement aligns with the long-term vision and broader business objectives.

  4. Recognizing and emphasizing the critical importance of data initiatives to the business, defining and taking ownership of roadmaps, project milestones, and effectively communicating key information to stakeholders.

  5. Planning and spearheading initiatives within the data team, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with organizational goals.

About You:

  • 8+ years of experience developing complex, distributed data applications.

  • Proficient with one or more programming languages (Python, Golang, Javascript)

  • 4+ years of experience in people management and building cohesive teams.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on team orientation; effective communication (both verbal and written) across a wide range of roles.

  • Comfortable expressing a point of view and experienced in collaborating and respectfully challenging other stakeholders.

Nice to have:

  • Good understanding of data warehousing, business analytics, and data pipelines.

  • Previous experience with large-scale data systems.
