About the Team

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Staff Data Scientist to join our team at Walmart, where you will partner with US Store Operations to drive data-driven insights and inform business decisions. As a thinking partner, you will work closely with stakeholders to create analytical structures, define success metrics, and develop models to drive insights and improve business outcomes.

This position will report to the Director, Data Science and is based in Bentonville, Arkansas. We are not considering remote applicants at this time, but a full relocation package is available.


What you'll do:

  • Partner with Walmart US Store Operations to develop and implement data-driven solutions that drive business outcomes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define success metrics and KPIs for new initiatives and develop experiments to test hypotheses
  • Apply causal inference modeling techniques to identify causal relationships between variables and drive insights
  • Develop and deploy supervised and unsupervised machine learning models to drive predictive insights and improve business outcomes
  • Conduct deep dives to identify fluctuations in metrics and develop recommendations to address these fluctuations
  • Communicate findings and insights effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure that deliverables are met within deadlines


What you’ll bring…

  • Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a data science or analytics role, preferably in a retail or operations environment
  • Strong experience in developing and deploying machine learning models, including supervised and unsupervised learning
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or SQL
  • Experience with statistical modeling and data analysis techniques, including regression, A/B testing, and causal inference
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
