Job Summary
The Facilities Specialist Journey person Millwright, works as a part of a team to maximize equipment utilization, efficiency and performance, while providing industrial, electrical and mechanical expertise. The position is responsible for maintaining safety, quality, efficiency, equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives for a state-of-the-art Order Storage and Retrieval and automated order picking systems along with other building equipment.
The Facilities Specialist focuses on the application of knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated equipment, including the utilization of 480VAC, 240 VAC, 120 VAC, and 48VDC, 24VDC, VFDs, and PLCs (Siemens preferred).
The Facilities Specialist is required to be a fully competent individual with broad advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge and proven hands on experience. Being able to complete job tasks independently with minimal supervision is a must.
The Facilities Technician will provide resolutions to a wide range of complex problems with judgment within defined policies and practices, contribute to development of procedures, goals and objectives and frequently work with other internal resources as well as with outside contractors and suppliers.
This position will work within a team of experienced technicians and under the guidance of the Sr. Facility Maintenance Manager.
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 10:00PM - 6:00AM
Section A - Specific Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings, and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial equipment installations
- Maintaining complete equipment records and documentation related to tests, maintenance, modifications, and repairs in CMMS
- Following test, maintenance and installation procedures established as acceptable for the equipment under the care of the maintenance department
- Developing and recommending improvements, design changes or modifications to mechanical systems, equipment or procedures
- Routinely testing electrical and mechanical systems, electronic equipment and components to ensure they are working properly and safely
- Assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing all electrical, electromechanical equipment and components as per manufacturer's installation procedures
- Performing routine daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance programs of all low voltage electrical and mechanical operating systems, rotating equipment to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair to avoid failure of equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning low voltage electrical and mechanical operating systems, equipment and components by using manuals, schematic diagrams and electronic test equipment to locate and repair faults and operational problems
- Providing technical support to all employees on the shift
Section B - General Responsibilities
- Performing miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Sr. Facility Maintenance Manager
- Assisting in inventory audits of spare parts to ensure availability of replacement parts and equipment
- Advising the Sr. Facility Maintenance Manager of hazards, defects or unsafe conditions on or off the equipment
- Recording equipment deterioration to determine whether continued operation of rotating equipment could be hazardous
- Scheduling and coordinating maintenance and repairs with other departments that may be affected by these activities
- Assisting in maintaining clean, orderly and hazard free work areas
- Always keeping work area safe, organized and clean
- Following company Health and Safety policies
- Working without close or direct supervision
Section C - Position Qualifications
- Knowledge and hands on experience working with:
- PLCs, VFDs, SCADA
- ASi Bus, Profibus, Ethernet
- Barcode scanners, vision systems, light curtains, photosensors
- De-stackers, robotic palletizers (Fanuc preferred), roller and belt conveyors
- Thermo transfer printers, label applicators
- Servo Drives, AC and DC motors, gearboxes
- Air compressors, air dryers, power generators, AC power distribution,
- Hydraulics, overhead doors, dock plates
- HVAC
- Journeyman Certified MIllwright; dual ticket (Electrician) would be an asset
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar role, working as a team with other industrial mechanics and electricians
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, operating manuals and maintenance instructions
- Theoretical and operational experience in the repair and troubleshooting of PLC-based machinery, and control systems
- Proficiency on industrial machinery, mechanical equipment and components, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems, compressors, conveyors and material handling systems
- Demonstrated ability in trouble shooting and isolating faults in electrical low voltage control and mechanical systems
- Practical knowledge of network interfaces
- Ability to create mechanical solutions to optimize production
- Knowledgeable in repairing and performing routine maintenance on production equipment
- Proficiency with computers and experience with various software
- Hands-on, team oriented, and committed to improvement processes
- Experience in reducing costs through processes and efficiencies
- Strong problem-solving capabilities
- Attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skills
- Process-oriented mentality
- Able to prioritize workload and effectively meet deadlines
