Job Description:

This role is within the Metroplex Energy accounting team. The primary purpose of the Settlement Accountant role is to settle third party and commodity related trades in a timely an accurate manner. The Settlement Analyst reconciles inventory volumes ensuring the volumes reflected in Metroplex accounts match with third party statements. The role is accountable for timely and accurate creation of invoices, generation of payments, monthly close journal entries and reconciliations, as well as frequent interaction with customers, traders and other members of the Accounting team.

Responsibilities:

•    Accountable for the accurate and timely completion of Settlement activities on a daily basis: 

  • Reconciles and updates inventory volumes, daily; work to resolve volume discrepancies
  •  Generates customer invoices and supporting documentation
  •  Settles all third party transactions per contractual terms
  •  Liaises with counterparties should any discrepancies occur; provide thorough explanations and seek resolutions to the discrepancies.   

•    Timely and accurately reconciling and closing inventory at month end.  
•    Ensures inventory transactions are accurately reflected in the financial records. 
•    Assists in developing solutions to financial and operational processes for inventory functions, policies and procedures.
•    Carries out ad hoc reports/assignments as needed.
•    Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external counterparties.  
•    Assists in the development and maintenance of department wide plans, goals, and deadlines.
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with a concentration in finance, accounting or related field of study
  • 1-3  years accounting experience; preferably fuel experience
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Advanced experience using MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
