Join us as a Lead DevOps Engineer

  • You’ll be acting as technical and cultural change catalysts, helping us enhance and scale a strong DevOps mindset along with the progressive adoption of new automated ways to deliver highly scalable, secure and mission critical software
  • As a custodian of DevOps technical practices and techniques, you'll be an evangelist of best practice both within the DevOps team and across the wider Payments Technology community
  • We’ll look to you to utilise your in-depth knowledge and broad experience as a technical leader, to deliver best in class CI & CD pipelines that enable our delivery teams to introduce change in a fast, effective, and safe manner

What you'll do

As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you’ll be demonstrating DevOps technical practices, mentoring, coaching teams, and demonstrating how to measure, understand and visualise the flow and delivery of value through the adoption of DevOps tools, technologies, techniques, patterns, and processes from inception through to technical implementation and delivery. You’ll be one of our senior AWS technical experts, designing and building best in class immutable infrastructure, delivering highly available systems with real time observability and self-healing capabilities.

You’ll also be:

  • Working within feature teams, platforms, domains and centre of excellence initiatives as active engineers, practitioners, mentors and coaches
  • Providing feedback that builds on policies, standards, practices and associated DevOps tooling
  • Proactively looking at ways to improve on key metrics such as Dora
  • Contributing to building the DevOps engineering capability, culture and mind-sets within the bank
  • Making sure decisions made are based on robust data, return on investment and value measures that demonstrate thoughtful and intelligent cost management
  • Proactively work towards efficiency, simplicity, and cost effectiveness of our implementations via strong design and reducing technical debt

The skills you'll need

  • Deep understanding of AWS services and infrastructure
  • Expertise in CI/CD, configuration management, containers, and IaC
  • Strong skills in Terraform, Bash, Python, or Golang
  • Experience of running large mission critical workloads in AWS
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and implementation
  • Experience of managing a small team of DevOps or SRE engineers
