The Opportunity
We’re focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology. This position is an 18 month contract position, field based in Calgary, covering Southern Alberta and East Kootenays, BC.
What You’ll Do
• The Diabetes Sales Specialist responsible for serving as primary contact for Abbott Diabetes Care to drive awareness and adoption of the FreeStyle Libre sensor and FreeStyle Libre digital ecosystem among health care providers and key clinics/practices.
• Lead and collaborate with various cross-functional partners including Market Access, Medical Science Liaison, Continuous Health Education and Marketing.
• Establish strong relationships with a broad base of key health care providers, identifying opportunities and barriers to engagement, and subsequently building engagement plans that enhance recommendations of the Freestyle Libre portfolio and utilization of the Abbott digital ecosystem.
• Act with a sense of purpose and urgency, engaging in a professional manner, focusing on the needs and interests of key stakeholders, in the pursuit of corporate objectives.
• The Diabetes Sales Specialist role is expected to maintain a high level of disease state, Abbott Diabetes Care products and ecosystem knowledge to meet the customers’ needs and expectations, as well as competitive knowledge.
Responsibilities
• Effectively liaise with key decision makers at the account level to build long term business relationships and deliver on goals
• Map national/provincial account influencers and coordinate alignment of tactical execution across accounts
• Understand and analyze the market dynamics within the diabetes healthcare ecosystem to generate deep insights on future trends that impact the brand and market
• Map the diabetes patient journey and pathways in key clinics/accounts and retail pharmacies within your assigned territory to deepen understanding, identify unmet needs, and improve the patient experience
• Deliver objectives per assigned goals by informing and influencing behavior of prescribers.
• Position products and services using appropriate resources and by being a subject matter expert on diabetes management.
• Develop and implement business plans that include goals, action plans, time frames and resources.
• Act with a sense of purpose and urgency, engaging in a profession and respectful manner.
• Convey information clearly, concisely and a timely manner to internal and external stakeholders.
• Regularly track and reports progress against plan, redirect efforts, as necessary.
• Document daily, weekly, and monthly activities utilizing call reporting / tracking system.
• Maintain accountabilities for all samples and company resources in accordance with Division guidelines.
• Work within quality guidelines established for compliance.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum of 5 years previous sales experience within healthcare industry with a successful sales track record. Previous sales experience in the diabetes category preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, high energy, integrity, and ambition to succeed.
