About This Opportunity 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Teaching-Focused Lecturer with extensive experience and expertise in clinical skills teaching, learning, and assessment to further develop their career. The role offers the chance to build on an established record of achievement in teaching, including clinical education, as well as research and service. The successful candidate will not only contribute to the delivery of clinical skills education but also take on a leadership role, coordinating the activities of other staff and expanding their impact by driving innovation and excellence in clinical skills teaching and assessment

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Teaching: Oversee Clinical Skills and Clinical Scenario-Based Learning for Years 1 and 2 of the MD Program, ensuring consistency in teaching across multiple sites.

  • Coordinate with tutors, course coordinators, and stakeholders to manage staffing, assessments, and the delivery of teaching activities.

  • Collaborate on tutor onboarding, supervise casual tutors, and use online platforms to enhance teaching, assessments, and innovation.

  • Scholarship of Learning and Teaching: Lead and develop effective pedagogical practices. Apply evidence informed research methodologies in curriculum design and development. Contribute to the advancement of medical education knowledge and practice

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Lead responsible research conduct and supervise the development of researcher skills and capabilities.

  • Facilitate engagement opportunities for supervisees and resolve conflicts or grievances in line with university policies.

  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You

  • An MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia and recency of clinical practice as a medical practitioner in Australia will be highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated experience and capacity in the development and delivery of medical education materials relevant to small group settings, including simulation.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver workshops and seminars to support professional development.

  • Highly developed organisational skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex working environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues

  • Evidence of a program of scholarly work in medical education and national recognition in this area

  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships, and to represent and promote the discipline to academic, industry, government and professional bodies.
