UMB Fund Services (UMBFS) is our nationally respected investment services provider offering a broad array of services for mutual funds and alternative investments to a wide range of investment advisors, independent money managers, broker-dealers, banks, third-party administrators, insurance companies and other financial service providers.  The UMBFS Alternative Investments Technical team provides development and support for the application used by our teams within UMB Fund Services organization. 

As a mid-level IT Manager, you will be leading a software development team consisting of software engineers and application architects responsible for building and managing enterprise applications for our Alternative Investments area.  You will be coaching team members to adapt and evolve to the latest technologies while coordinating with product development, business partners and other technical teams to build solutions. You will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day system operations and support for several business partners and ensuring full operational functionality of those systems while the team responds to staff and client issues regarding the system operations.

This role is hybrid for candidates in the Ogden, UT metropolitan area and open to qualified remote candidates outside of the Ogden area but only within the US.

How you’ll spend your time:

  • Defining and executing the technology roadmap for the team.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with business partners and serving as the technology expert participating in business meetings to articulate business value of technology solutions.
  • Leading and driving solution recommendations using gap analyses and total cost of ownership analyses across multiple technology options.
  • Managing the development of individuals on the team by providing coaching through listening and timely feedback.
  • Setting challenging yet attainable goals for team members and managing their performance.  This includes assigning and monitoring the team members’ work efforts to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures for areas of responsibility and endpoint infrastructure support.
  • Participating in the budget process and maintaining a budgetary awareness.
  • Understanding the risk and impact to the business while recommending risk mitigation strategies and options to be considered.

We’re excited to talk with you if:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, at least 8 years of IT work experience, and at least 3 years of management, supervisory or team lead experience.
  • You have demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to build consensus across multiple departments regarding complex solutions and issue resolution.  This includes managing vendor relationships and supporting obligations.
  • You have experience identifying, developing, and initiating innovations and solutions where precedents may not exist.
  • You have the ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects for various internal customers.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in AWS cloud platforms and services, cloud architecture, design and development
  • You have experience in various cloud databases, such as AWS Aurora, DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc.
  • You have DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and tools experience such as Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, etc.
  • You have cloud-native technologies and frameworks experience, such as Kubernetes, Docker, Serverless, Microservices, etc.
  • You have in-depth background with programming languages and scripting tools, such as Python, Java, C#, PowerShell, etc.
  • You have knowledge of the following:
    • System development methodology
    • Fundamental principles of functional and unit testing
    • Web Services architecture and implementation
    • Continuous integration tools
    • Source control tools and processes

Compensation Range:

Minimum: $83,200.00 - Maximum: $214,560.00

The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB’s standard for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
