Job Description:

Senior Cloud Storage Engineer - Backup & Recovery Management

The Senior Cloud Storage Engineer performs analysis and research of systems and networks. Reviews detailed business and technical requirements in order to recommend technical solutions.

Location: Atlanta, GA preferred.  Alternate locations may be considered. This position will work in a hybrid model (remote and office). The Ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.

How you will make an impact:

  • Provides advanced-level engineering design functions and building multiple cloud environment infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Network, Backups, DR, and Monitoring).
  • Creates presentations and seeks IT management approval and acceptance of significant replacements or reconfigurations of major business systems serving the enterprise.
  • Lead the implementation and management of Rubrik data backup and recovery solutions for enterprise clients, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Conduct regular system backups, and disaster recovery drills, and maintain documentation for Rubrik environments; Troubleshoot and resolve Rubrik-related issues.
  • Deployment and configuration of Rubrik Cluster and Polaris UI.
  • Design and implement Rubrik Cloud Data Management solution for enterprise environment.
  • Perform granular recoveries for individual files, applications, and images (ex. AMIs).
  • Utilize Cloud Archive for long-term data retention and disaster recovery.
  • Develop complex solutions from business requirements and architectural specifications; provide input to set or amend architectural specifications.
  • Create reusable artifacts like CloudFormation templates, contributing to the pool of reusable code.
  • Directs the construction of architecture components (e.g., data architecture, application architecture, technical architecture).
  • Participates in the design of the enterprise architecture; ensure architecture and design are compliant with all security, cost, performance, and durability best practices.
  • Proposes opportunities to improve results based on targeted or continuous assessment.
  • Participates in enterprise planning activity, including vendor assessment, technology platform selection, retirement, prioritization, and integration.
  • Routinely acts as a subject matter expert for executive management.; Work closely with cross-functional teams, Cloud Security & Compliance, Infrastructure Teams, etc. to execute on cloud service offerings.
  • Advocate and implement cloud security policies and best practices with InfoSec Team(s).
  • Perform configuration management duties with the use of AWSConfig, etc.
  • Scaling production systems and technologies, including load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, and configuration management.
  • Responsible for the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, etc. of our Cloud environment.
  • Participate in postmortem activities for all significant cloud-related incidents. This will include investigation to establish what happened in detail, discover root causes, and assign actions to correct the problem or improve how it is addressed in the future.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field of study and a minimum of 10 years in one or more of the following: information systems, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development and management required; significant experience with multiple technical and business disciplines required; broad-based experience to plan and design highly complex systems; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, & Experiences:

  • 8+ Years of experience in system administration, application development, infrastructure development in a cloud infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of experience and familiarity with site and AWS cloud infrastructure monitoring systems (CloudWatch, CloudWatch Synthetics, AWS X-Ray, Splunk, etc).
  • 8+ years executing the use of XML, Shell, Perl, YAML, Ruby, Batch, and Python.
  • Lambda and CloudFormation coding along with branch coding techniques.
  • 6+ years of cloud infrastructure automation technologies (like Terraform, CodeDeploy, Puppet, Ansible, Chef).
  • Production experience in large environments using configuration management tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  • Complete understanding and ability to perform configuration management duties with the use of AWSConfig, etc.
  • Familiarity with AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, or equivalent Azure/GCP Databases with a comprehensive understanding of tuning configurations
  • 6+ years of managing images (e.g. AWS AMIs) including remediation and patching.
  • Strong understanding of AWS networking fundamentals (e.g. VPC, TransitGateway, Routes, etc.) and configuration of health-check services and cloud load balancers (e.g. ELB, ALB, etc.)
  • 2+ years of cloud database operations and deployment experience (RDS, MySQL/Postgres/Aurora).
  • Data Management: Proficient in Rubrik backup and recovery, data deduplication, and archival strategies.
  • Familiarity with using Rubrik Polaris for real-time monitoring and reporting.
  • Experience relevant to data backup, storage, or cloud technologies.
  • Cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) certification(s) preferred.
  • Rubrik Certified Administrator (RCA) preferred.
