CACI is currently looking for a motivated, career and customer-oriented mid-level Software Engineer/Developer with Agile methodology experience to join our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Land Border Integration (LBI) Integrated Traveler Initiative II.I (ITI2.1) team in Northern Virginia! Join this passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development and hardware integration for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  

As a member of the ITI2.1 Team, you will support the men and women charged with safeguarding the American people and enhancing the Nation’s safety, security, and prosperity. CBP Officers and Border Patrol agents are on the front lines, every day, protecting our national security by combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection into one coordinated and supportive activity.

What you’ll get to do: 

As a Software Developer working for the CBP ITI2.1 program, you will have a fast moving, challenging, and a highly rewarding position keeping the infrastructure running that helps CBP keep our borders safe on all travel entry and exit modalities.  These modalities include air, land, and sea for entry and exit at various ports of entry. 

The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, fast-learning, and organized and have solid software development knowledge and coding experience.  The role of this mid-level position will be supporting the various border security efforts of CBP and may include biometric technologies such as facial recognition, RFID enabled documents, license plate reading technologies, data analytics, IoT, and other border security technologies.  

  • The role of this position will be responsible for research, design, and implementation of creative development solutions, and maintenance and support of legacy solutions. 

  • Identify, collect, and organize end user requirements, forming a backlog and ensuring requested specifications and capabilities are accurately described and in sufficient detail.  Coordinate with government staff and their customers to validate, prioritize, and track progress of requirements completion 

  • Develop, test, and deploy analytic applications, working with end-users to incorporate feedback into the development process 

  • Ingest and analyze structured and unstructured data into developed applications 

  • Sustain existing software applications 

  • Support software release activities, including:  

    • Perform functional testing, preparing required documentation for accreditation. 

    • Compile reports on performance/usage metrics, schedules, and application roadmaps 

    • Identify, research, and integrate leading edge technologies and tools as required 

    • Participate in technical exchange and senior level working group meetings 

  • Be able to follow a fast-paced Agile software development cycle and have ability to work under senior software developers’ guidance and in an environment where teamwork and individual collaboration is essential to success. 

You have: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation, criteria includes, but not limited to: 

    • 3-year check for felony convictions 

    • 1-year check for illegal drug use 

    • 1-year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud  

  • College degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

  • Five (5) years or more experience in incremental software development projects such as the Agile Scrum approach 

  • Must be available to work a hybrid schedule with an on-site requirement in Sterling, VA

You’re good at: 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills necessary to function within a team environment across a diverse set of projects with multiple stakeholders 

  • Technical Skills: 

    • Coding in .C#, NET, Angular, Java, Python, Ruby, etc. 

    • Utilizing SQL Server 

    • Front or back end developer 

    • CSS3, Less, HTML, JavaScript, and jQuery 

    • Integration with hardware devices and vendor SDKs 

Bonus would be having: 

  • Angular.js; Kubernetes, Containers 

  • Coded in Visual Studio using C# and Razor for a Microsoft MVC 5 Application 

  • Java, Python, scala, node.js, React/Angular, Web Services, Automated Testing, Helm Charts, Open Shift, Grey Matter, Containers 

  • Background in software development, preferably AGILE Methodologies and SCRUM, JIRA and Confluence 

  • Experienced with Information Technologies and advanced technology concepts. 

  • Middleware and User Interface driven applications 

  • Multi-threaded applications; Exception handling 

  • Agile development methodologies and practices - Scrum, user stories, backlogs, continuous integration, retrospectives, etc. 

  • ServiceNow Implementation Experience preferred

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$86,600 - $181,800
