My name is Sara Gerdner Kalle, Head of Commercial for Svitzer Europe and I’m looking for a new Business Development Manager to join our commercial team of 10 dedicated colleagues. We have focus on sales, customers, our team, results and having fun.

Key responsibilities

As Business Development Manager for Europe, you will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and developing growth opportunities for Svitzer in Europe. The Business Development Manager is expected to play a lead role in setting the growth strategy overall, while owning the end-to-end process, managing the right opportunities’ tender process, developing customer value propositions, solution development, pricing of services, proposal submission and internal approval.

As an individual contributor, the importance of creating a Growth Culture across the organization is crucial. You will be responsible for setting up a structure, allowing growth and #passionforcustomers to be part of everyone’s agenda.

  • Growth: Drive and execute our growth strategy in a long lead cycle setting, spending equal time in hunting for new opportunities and farming exciting leads; 
  • Customers: Develop and maintain strong relationships and trust with customers (current and prospective) and external stakeholders, with special focus on resource and energy industries;
  • Team: Be part of Europe Commercial team with caring and high-performing colleagues, Global Commercial team, and the opportunity to drive growth in a world-leading organisation within Maritime Towage;

  • Who we are looking for
  • Customer focused: you always put the customer first and have the curiosity and can-do attitude to uncover and solve customer problems. You successfully balance between a farmer and hunter mindset to uncover growth opportunities and enrich existing customer relationships. 
  • Industry experience: you are well versed in the maritime and resource & energy industries, and have a solid foundation of relationships and expertise, allowing you to hit the ground running. 
  • Business development toolbox: you have the experience (minimum 5 years) and toolbox to delivery best-in-class business development and tender management result. 
  • Project oriented: you have strong project management shills allowing you to lead and structure multiple growth projects. 
  • Financial acumen: you possess in-depth financial knowledge and are comfortable with producing investment appraisal models, business case memos and strategy recommendations to senior management. 
  • Hands-on: you will play a key role in cross-functional and cross-border teams where you need to be able to effectively work across geographies and hierarchies and delivery both as an individual contributor and indirect leader of others 
  • You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills and enjoy and have the flexibility to travel to our customers, and to our regional ports and operations. 
  • Your enthusiasm is infectious, and you thrive working in a team and with customers. Your entrepreneurial spirit and mindset inspire others to action.
