Overview of Position

The Strategic Initiatives Manager plays a critical role in driving and executing special projects within the Reinsurance team.  The purpose of this role is to enhance communication, prioritization of strategic initiatives, and provide a mechanism for escalations and resolutions.  This role will work across all reinsurance products and will partner closely with the reinsurance leadership team and finance transformation team.  This is a highly visible role to the business and finance senior leadership.

What will be my responsibilities for this position?

Project Management

  • Act as the primary liaison between the reinsurance and the business, IT, and reinsurance leaders on strategic initiatives, work to create roadmaps to future state.

  • Work closely with the business on key client initiatives to ensure seamless client experience and ensuring timely delivery and effective execution.

  • Collaborate with business units to understand their needs and challenges, and analyze existing processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

  • Work on high priority client escalations that require immediate attention/triage.

  • Prepare presentations to communicate status of open projects and initiatives to management, triggering escalations as necessary.

  • Responsible for managing project deliverables and timelines

Process improvement & Change Management

  • Develop and recommend process enhancements, automation solutions, and best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Develop and implement change management strategies to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and systems.

  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of process improvements and identify opportunities for further enhancement.

  • Provide training and support to employees on new processes and systems to ensure successful implementation and utilization

  • Develop and maintain documentation related to process changes and operational procedures

  • Act as a utility player on the team, stepping in wherever there is an urgent need

Up to 5% Travel

What are the requirements needed for this position?

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field

Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in project management, strategic planning or related role within the insurance or reinsurance industry.

Skills:

  • Transformation Mindset, challenging the status quo

  • Extensive experience with Alteryx or other data analytics tools

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions

  • Strong leadership, effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma

  • Understanding of insurance/reinsurance accounting

  • Able to thrive in a fast pace environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills required

  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, V-look ups, Power BI

  • Able to work independently

  • Able to adapt to a flexible work environment

Pay Range:

$84,100.00 - $140,500.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
