Why this role is important?

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Payor Performance, this role will support the overall departmental goal of protecting and enhancing pharmacy revenues and margins via the Payor Performance team, whose primary goal is to manage Third Party Payor risk management and risk assessments. The Audit & Compliance Specialist will assist the team by providing support to stores as they manage Public and Private Third Party Payor audits in addition to implementing risk mitigation tactics through operational best practices based on Third Party Plan contracts, policies, and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and demonstrate a deep understanding of third party payor audits
  • Make recommendations on reducing audit risk based on Third Party Payor contracts and Pharmacy Manual Policies and Procedures
  • Perform risk assessment for store audits and leverage data to generate insights on risk management approach and appeal opportunities.
  • Support stores during the entire end-to-end audit process.
  • Collaborate with regional leaders and provide educational learnings to better support all stores in the region and implement action plans to support new initiatives
  • Internal collaboration with other business areas including Operations, Pricing and Procurement to develop, train and support stores regarding Payor processes and develop education and training documents
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, quality, and compliance with data governance policies
  • Monitor team shared mailbox and respond to escalations accordingly
  • Support ad-hoc pharmacy special projects to improve our pharmacy processes nationwide

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Post Secondary education is not required but successful completion of a college based Pharmacy Technician program or a diploma in a related field would be considered an asset
  • Advanced understanding of third party payor audit processes
  • Minimum of 3 years pharmacy related experience, preferably in a third party payor, audit or retail environment
  • Ability to improve work processes and operational best practices
  • Ability to operate within the context of a business environment in order to execute strategic and tactical plans, track trends and recommend alternative direction where necessary
  • Computer skills in order to produce reports, documents and presentations
  • Strategic thinker with exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Advanced level of initiative and judgment to organize and prioritize tasks, workload, and projects to meet required deadlines amid competing demands
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word to produce reports, documents, and presentations  
  • High level of initiative to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Strong collaboration, presentation, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional manner, courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are required in dealing with stores, colleagues and external in every day working relationships
