We’re looking for a talented and curious actuarial professional to join our Economic Capital team as a Senior Actuarial Analyst. This is a unique opportunity to help enhance and evolve our industry leading Economic Capital Internal Model, influencing how capital insights drive decision making across Aviva Canada.
In this role, you'll work hands on with our stochastic Internal Model, gaining a holistic view of risk that spans Aviva Canada’s business. You’ll collaborate closely with teams across Reserving, ALM, Finance, Reinsurance, Pricing, and our UK Group colleagues. Provide technical support for the Internal Economic Capital Model, including methodology, parameterization, validation, and analysis.
Support OSFI B-15 Climate Risk Management through the physical risk modelling stream.
Learn, maintain, and evolve the Target COR/ROE model to support performance measurement and planning for future goals.
Work on catastrophe model applications, including CAT loading development, capital analysis, and hazard/peril adjustments.
Support the development of capital metrics used for planning, performance management, strategic decisions, and risk optimization.
Analyze actuarial and financial data to support internal capital modelling and capital allocation.
Provide support on the Financial Condition Testing (FCT) process.
Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field e.g. Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics/Economics, Data Analytics, Computer Science or equivalent.
Progress towards ACAS and relevant actuarial experience.
Experience with statistical modelling and familiarity with advanced quantitative or predictive modelling techniques.
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both actuarial and non‑technical audiences.
Strong quantitative analysis, problem solving and programming skills (VBA, SAS, Python/R).
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
Experience with capital or catastrophe models.
Strong statistical modelling capabilities.
Exposure to performance metric modelling (e.g., COR, ROE).
The salary band for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
