PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Manager In Training partners with current leadership in a structured, twelve-month program, working hands on in multiple departments to learn business operations and processes for the poultry processing industry. This role develops leadership skills by becoming familiar with line function and staff requirements, company policies and legal requirements for each phase of the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Learn the day-to-day operations by working under the supervision of functional managers or mentors and through direct, hands-on experience in all assigned departments to develop an understanding of departmental operations, processes, procedures and performance standards; apply learned skills in daily interactions with employees, vendors, customers, etc.
- Learn and understand the requirements of both internal and external customers, using information and feedback to improve products and services
- Identify opportunities for improvement, including underlying root cause, suggest solutions and work with various departments to implement a creative solution to permanently remedy issues
- Partner with experienced leadership to lead and direct the day-to-day activities of frontline associates
- Make principled decisions in daily interactions with peers, subordinates and management by learning, understanding and applying the LEAP philosophy
- Learn and understand the Company’s vision and objectives to create meaningful and measurable personal and subordinate goals
- Follow and ensure others follow all safety initiatives helping to maintain a zero-accident culture
- Provide feedback to leaders for personnel successes and areas for improvement
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This role is a Leader of People role with required competencies: Sizing up People, Delegation, Planning, Customer Focus and Conflict Management
EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors’ degree in Poultry Science, Food Science, Agribusiness or other relevant discipline from an accredited institution
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Demonstrated leadership skills in school or community; previous poultry or manufacturing internship preferred
- Ability to learn conflict resolution tactics and apply to resolve issues efficiently, effectively and within Company and legal guidelines
- Strong customer focus with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner
- Must have exceptional communication, both verbal and written, presentation and facilitation skillAble to keep sensitive information confidential and appropriately handle critical situations with tact and diplomacy

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel throughout facilities both indoors and out
- Ability to work in a wet, cold, hot, humid, and/or dusty environment
- Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to work unusual shifts (holidays, weekends and extended ) as needed to meet production requirement
