Working on a cross-functional team, the Paralegal plays an integral role supporting intellectual property protection and maintenance, coordinating and administering all aspects of the contract management process, and coordinating and responding to customer sustainability inquiries. May also support the corporate secretary function. Hybrid position with coming onsite to our building in Lansing, MI for one or two days a week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Intellectual Property

  • Administers patent annuities.
  • Assists with trademark renewals and trade secret audits.

Corporate & Contracts

  • Drafts and reviews contracts.
  • Coordinates and administers all aspects of the contract management process, including (i) maintaining contract lifecycle management system, (ii) ensuring all executed contracts are accurately recorded and accessible, and )iii) monitoring contract deadlines, renewals, and obligations, ensuring timely follow-up on expiring or renewing contracts.
  • Assists with M&A and other corporate transactions, including coordinating and conducting due diligence for corporate transactions and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Sustainability

  • Leads sustainability inquiry response process, including coordinating cross-functional information, maintaining sustainability database, and responding to customer inquiries.
  • Coordinates climate data collation process.

General

  • Supports attorneys in identifying and resolving legal issues related to business operations and transactions.
  • Working with cross-functional teams, develops and implements corporate guidelines and processes.

Education and Experience
 

·       Minimum BA or BS, with additional paralegal degree or equivalent experience

·       Minimum 5 years’ experience

·       Proven ability to use analytical skills and judgment to create practical alternatives and solutions.

·       Ability to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.

·       Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills and abilities

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·       Excellent organizational skills
