Job Description
The Opportunity
The Vice President of IT Solutions Delivery is a senior leadership role that oversees the design, development, and implementation of IT solutions and applications for the John Hancock US segment life insurance and annuities industry. The VP is responsible for managing a team of in sourced and outsourced talent, ensuring quality standards, and aligning IT solutions with business objectives and customer needs. Collaborating with other IT leaders, business stakeholders, and external partners to drive innovation, efficiency, and scalability of IT solutions.
Responsibilities
Working with IT business partners and stakeholders, define and execute the IT solution delivery strategy, roadmap, and budget for the US life insurance industry.
Lead and manage a team of insourced and outsourced IT professionals onshore and offshore, including delivery managers, business analysts, developers, testers, scrum masters and support staff.
Ensure that IT solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, following the best practices and standards of quality, security, and compliance.
Align IT solutions with the business goals and customer needs of the US life insurance industry, and ensure that they are aligned with the overall IT vision and architecture.
Collaborate with other IT leaders, business stakeholders, and external partners to identify and prioritize business requirements, opportunities, and challenges.
Drive innovation, efficiency, and scalability of IT solutions, leveraging emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies.
Manage the vendor relationships, contracts, and performance of the outsourced IT providers, and ensure that they deliver value and quality.
Monitor and report on the IT solution delivery performance, metrics, and risks, and take corrective actions as needed.
Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to the IT solution delivery team, and foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and excel.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field; master's degree preferred.
At least10 years of experience in IT solution delivery, with 5 years in a senior management or executive role.
Extensive knowledge of the US life insurance industry, its products, processes, regulations, and challenges.
Proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale, and high-quality IT solutions that meet business goals and customer expectations.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor a diverse and distributed team.
Strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues, risks, and dependencies.
Experience in managing in sourced and outsourced talent, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management
Experience in agile, waterfall, and hybrid methodologies, and familiarity with various tools and technologies used in IT solution delivery including Jira and Planview.
Ability to adapt to changing business needs, market trends and customer demands.

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
