The role

As a result of continued growth, our Public Sector (Corporate) group has an exciting opportunity for a Lawyer (2-3yr PQE) to join our Canberra practice. Working closely with Partner Chris Davis and our wider team, you will get exposure to some of the largest, most challenging and high profile procurement undertaken by the Commonwealth government.

Our team works on a wide range of commercial, contracting, procurement, corporate and probity matters within the government sector.  The varied nature of our work means that even at a junior level, you will have the opportunity and will be expected to directly engage with strategically important Commonwealth departments and agencies, all the while being supported to enhance your skillset and local profile.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have;

  • at least 2-3 years' experience as a Lawyer within Government and/or a leading private practice law firm. More experienced lawyers will also be considered and are also encouraged to apply.
  • experience in and an understanding of public sector procurement and contracting, preferably including experience with Department of Defence procurement.
  • ability and willingness to work with a level of independence and autonomy appropriate to your experience. You will not be micro managed and must be prepared to take responsibility for delivering to requirements.
  • a passion for delivering exceptional client service and building effective relationships.
  • an existing Commonwealth security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

The team helps a range of Commonwealth and State Government departments and agencies with some of their most interesting, significant and technically challenging programs, projects and matters generally.  We use our skills to solve complex legal problems, assist with the development and implementation of program strategy, and inform policy development.
