A Day in the Life

The Core Team Operations Representative (CTOR) serves as the recognized leader for global Operations and Supply Chain within New Product Introduction (NPI) project core teams. This role provides strategic and tactical leadership to a cross-functional extended team—including Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain Planning, Category Management, Sourcing, Contract Manufacturers/OEMs, Supplier Quality, and others—to ensure the successful development, launch, and commercialization of new products.

The CTOR is accountable for all operational aspects of the program, including value stream selection, planning, execution, and implementation. They are responsible for ensuring the voice of Operations is effectively represented, and for meeting all team commitments and project contract metrics through timely communication and execution.

Day in the life:

  • Own and lead all Operations activities and deliverables throughout product development planning and execution.

  • Drive end-to-end value stream development and processes from technology readiness to market release.

  • Lead the identification, mitigation, and resolution of manufacturing and supply chain schedule risks.

  • Define and achieve key operations objectives including Labor, Burden, Materials, Cycle Time, Capacity, Yield, Process Capability (PPK), and more.

  • Lead cross-functional teams—Manufacturing, Supply Chain Planning, Sourcing, Category Management, Supplier Quality, Contract Manufacturers/OEMs—throughout the product development lifecycle to meet project and business goals.

  • Provide hands-on tactical and operational leadership, including coaching and mentoring of the broader operations team.

  • Develop, implement, and execute operational strategies and plans aligned with program and business needs.

  • Manage operations schedules, scope, materials, resources, expenditures, and funding across projects.

  • Create, maintain, and communicate detailed operations plans, budgets, and timelines.

  • Serve as the Voice of Operations within cross-functional teams, ensuring operational needs are prioritized and documented.

  • Ensure Quality Management System (QMS) requirements are understood, implemented, and maintained within operations.

  • Support regulatory and compliance documentation, including Design History File and submissions.

  • Coordinate development builds across the value stream and align them with program milestones.

  • Ensure seamless integration between operations and core product development teams.

  • Champion program-level manufacturing and sourcing strategies, including facility selection, make/buy decisions, and business continuity planning.

  • Ensure consistent application of Design for Reliability and Manufacturing (DRM) principles.

  • Lead launch readiness activities including capacity planning, build execution, and commercialization preparedness.

  • Provide indirect leadership, coaching, and development for extended operations teams.

  • Influence effectively within a matrixed organization and collaborate across cultures and functions.

  • Apply strong business acumen, including operations costing (LBM, OPC, inventory deferrals, capital investments).

  • Serve as a strong advocate and representative of Operations within cross-functional settings, driving alignment with business and project objectives.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree with minimum of 7 years of relevant experience,

  • Or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

  • Project Management: Proven track record of leading complex projects and programs, including full financial accountability and cross-functional coordination.

  • Contract Manufacturing: Experience collaborating with Contract Manufacturers to develop and launch handheld electronic instrument platforms.

  • New Product & Process Development: Demonstrated success in developing and launching new products and/or manufacturing processes, from concept to commercialization.

Nice to Have

  • Manufacturing Engineering: Strong background in manufacturing engineering; hands-on experience is highly desirable.

  • Regulated Industries: Extensive experience in medical devices or similarly regulated environments, ensuring compliance and quality throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of product and process qualification, including Validation (IQ, OQ, PQ), PPAP, and related regulatory requirements.

  • Supply Chain & Capacity Planning: Skilled in planning and scaling supply chains to support new product launches.

  • Sourcing & Component Qualification: Experienced in sourcing strategies and qualifying components for manufacturing readiness.

  • Design for Excellence: Proficient in applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM), and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$168,800.00 - $253,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
