The Opportunity
Our Rapid Diagnostics Procurement organization has an opportunity in the Infectious Disease business for a Procurement Manager leading the Asia procurement team. This position may be located in Hangzhou or Shanghai, China or in Seoul, South Korea.
The Procurement Manager is responsible for procurement activities across all sourcing categories for the Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Infectious Disease (ID) business across the sites in Asia including Korea, Japan and China. The role will lead a team across the region to deliver to ID’s business objectives including cost improvement, supply security and procurement activities for new product introduction. The Procurement Manager will support and influence internal/external stakeholders to ensure engagement, alignment, and business readiness to drive improvements in quality, sustainability, supply security, total cost of ownership, and technological capability of our supply base. This role provides an opportunity to lead and work within diverse multi-functional teams and will collaborate with various functions across the Rapid Diagnostics business.
What You’ll Work On:
- Understand and contribute to the Infectious Disease business strategy, based on the specific business and technology needs, and translates business strategy for category.
- Work with Corporate and Business category procurement teams to develop APAC regional sourcing strategy for the direct material spend across the three ID manufacturing sites in Asia, aim to keep ID at the forefront of the industry in the areas of supplier quality, service, risk management, cost leadership and technological capability.
- Work with cross-functional team to develop saving pipeline, align with business on saving goals, and deliver the annual savings to plan.
- Serve as a business partner, identifying critical business requirements and providing sourcing and procurement services that meet these needs.
- Influence business initiatives and translate business vision and strategy into aligned category strategy with an execution roadmap. Confirm business objectives, challenges, projects, requirements and expectations and translates into category strategic planning processes and solutions.
- Proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities to advance the category such as design for sourcing, innovation, process mapping and improvement, and cost efficiencies.
- Provide insight to how to best develop and leverage supplier capabilities to meet business needs and proactively manage supplier relationships to deliver on business objectives. Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers.
- Stay current on market dynamics, supplier competitive landscape and pricing strategy across the regions to provide insight to category strategies.
- Closely collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure achievement of business objectives and initiate a collaborative environment among stakeholders.
- Lead complex RFQs/RFIs/RFPs and lead the selection of suppliers aligned with category strategies and business objectives.
- Negotiate and execute contractual agreements with suppliers
- Responsible for people leadership for the ID business procurement team in Asia. Recruit, mentor, train and develop talent. Manage people issues in a constructive and timely manner. Responsible for overall morale of team and promote cohesive attitude. Execute against established staffing/resources plan.
- Stimulate creativity and innovation in others. Open to new ideas. Support change and take risks. Lead change and innovation.
- Clearly define category taxonomy and manage baseline. Coordinate with corporate and other divisions to share best practices and adherence to guidelines.
- Closely collaborate with adjacent business departments, and external partners to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services, in line with agreed service levels. Initiate a collaborative environment among stakeholders.
- Partner and collaborate with key One Procurement staff of other Abbott divisions in order to support cross divisional business initiatives, and explore Procurement synergies and efficiencies. Initiate a collaborative environment among stakeholders.
Education And Experience You’ll Bring:
- Bachelors degree. Preferred in engineering, supply chain, business, sciences or technical field. Graduate degree preferred.
- 5+ years of Procurement and/or supply chain management experience.
- Professional certifications desirable (CPSM, CPM, PMP or similar certification)
- Experience with supplier management and strong negotiating skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills.
- Ability to take initiative, make decisions and impactful recommendations.
- Results Focus. All actions tied to company performance and achieving results.
- Experience leading teams, experience leading a cross-countries team is preferred
- Ability to travel internationally ~25%.
