Project Description:

This role would support the Converged environment at Xcel Converged basically refers to the convergence of the underlying hardware required to run the OSs/Applications.  Converged software integrates CPU, Memory, Disk, and Networking in a unified environment allowing for resource sharing.  The job entails tracking and verifying all the assets making up the environment.  The tools used are ServiceNow, VMware VCenter, VCF Suite (Operations, Automation, Skyline), ksh, Powershell, and Excel.

The Compute and Converged team support most of the underlying hardware infrastructure supporting operations at Xcel Energy.  One of the bigger needs is maintaining accurate asset information in the various environments.  What we are looking for is someone to assist in scanning the various environments and databases for inconsistent or null data.  This internship will be very broad in scope providing experience in the vSphere/Aria environment various OSs, along with the asset tracking systems.

This will be a summer opportunity with the potential to extend into a school semester. The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer.  If the intern works during the school year, their hours should be part-time.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Ability to embrace a learning adventure here with Xcel Energy in this role.
  • Demonstrated experience with PowerShell (yammel, ksh) scripting tools
  • ServiceNow experience desired
  • Advanced experience with MS Excel, Windows and/or Unix OS
  • VMWare VCenter, VCF Suite/Aria desired.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $18.40 to $21.60 per hour
