We have an exciting opportunity at Caterpillar for a Sustainability Communications Lead to design, development, produce and provide consultation on a variety of internal and external communications materials and media in support of our role in the global sustainability effort.

What You Will Do:

  • Support office of CSO for executive, dealer/customer, and internal sustainability forum messaging
  • Lead sustainability report vision and theme; coordinate messaging and content for Sustainability Report and TCFD; manage vendor and internal relationships for consistent content
  • Drive employee communication and engagement efforts on sustainability via our Sustainability Advocates group
  • Act as a counselor to the business on how best to portray Caterpillar’s role in sustainability from an Enterprise POV to internal and external audiences; conduct final review and approval before internal or external communications are released
  • Ensure segments are aware of enterprise strategy on sustainability; support enterprise stories by providing segment-focused expertise
  • Identify media opportunities and risks based on business and industry knowledge; build and maintain media relationships with reporters
  • Find stories, generate media pitches to enhance reputation in key markets
  • Provide reactive media support as needed during a crisis (statements and talking points, ensuring alignment, etc.)

What You Have:

  • Strategic Planning: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience

Additional Info:

  • The primary location for this position is at our Global Headquarters in Irving, Texas
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for those who qualify
  • Sponsorship is not available
  • International and Domestic travel up to 10%
