Chief Accountant  

Role Overview:  

Huntsman Corporation’s Accounting team is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to join our newly formed team in Krakow. You will be part of the Accounting & Reporting West Europe team within the EMEA Accounting structure, reporting to the Accounting Team Leader West.

In this role, you will play a key role in managing financial accounting processes, ensuring compliance, and supporting business decisions in a dynamic, international environment.

Role Responsibilities: 

As a Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for: 

• Ensuring a robust internal control framework is implemented and maintained across key accounting processes, compliant with Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) requirements.
• Ensuring timely submission of statutory financial statements in line with country regulations.
• Managing the relationship with external auditors and ensuring positive outcomes for statutory audits of multiple legal entities, especially Switzerland.
• Leading and executing month‑end close tasks including revaluations, exchange difference analysis, and related accounting entries.
• Preparing and delivering monthly financial reporting in a timely and accurate manner.
• Acting as a key point of contact for local management and business stakeholders within the relevant countries.
• Serving as the main liaison for local authorities in West European jurisdictions.
• Proactively identifying improvement opportunities and leading initiatives to enhance processes, systems, and reporting efficiency.
• Acting as Deputy Team Leader, providing team oversight support when required.

Experience and Competencies: 

We are looking for experienced candidates with a strong background in statutory accounting and financial reporting, proven audit management skills, hands-on expertise in month-end close and process improvement,

What we are looking for: 

• Accounting/finance education is required. ACCA (or equivalent) qualification or active progress toward certification will be considered a strong advantage.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant accounting or financial reporting experience.
• Solid knowledge of statutory accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities.
• Proven experience in managing external audit processes.
• Proficiency with SAP, Excel, and ideally Power BI.
• Fluency in English; German is a strong advantage.
• Advanced analytical skills and strong attention to accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.

• Proven continuous‑improvement mindset with a willingness to challenge status quo.
• Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple deadlines.
