Job Description:

The Office of the Chief Information Officer does not sponsor STEM or non-immigrant work visas for this position.

Under limited supervision and direction of the Network Infrastructure Manager, this position will be responsible for Supervising, mentoring and guiding systems engineers with advanced problem resolution skills who are responsible for planning, design, development, optimization, documentation, maintenance, and performance of the Statewide Wide Area Network. The position will assist in developing budgets, establishing rates, and setting standards for staff performance

Job Duties: Provide technical support at a supervisory level for Edge Firewall, Routers, and Switch configuration and maintenance. Provide technical support at a supervisory level for installation, operation, trouble shooting, and repair of network hardware. Evaluate network systems and determine the need for patches, upgrades, and analyze future technical needs. Act as technical liaison between upper management, subordinate teammates and offer support to our clients. Develop and maintain procedures and processes, create documentation, and assist clients and other information technology employees. Responsible for planning work, setting goals, and organizing tasks to ensure efficient workflow and optimal use of resources. Train new hires, provide ongoing guidance, and identify opportunities for employee development and skill enhancement. Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, conduct performance reviews, and ensure that work meets quality standards. Other duties as assigned and within the scope of the classification.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience in a related information technology discipline (network infrastructure, coding, systems or database); experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis, one year of which as a project coordinator, leader, or supervisor. 

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in previous leadership roles. Extensive knowledge of information technology theory, principles, and practices. Working knowledge of enterprise network devices is also preferred. Network certifications are desired. Knowledge enterprise firewalls, Switches, and or Routing

Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver’s license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and reliable attendance required.


 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Installing and configuring network equipment. Implementing disaster recovery plans. Knowledge of information technology theory, principles, and practices. Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, local and wide area network systems. Knowledge of client/server network protocols and Internet/Intranet applications. Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting data networks and troubleshooting tools. Skill in delivering responsive, quality customer service. Ability to write clear and concise documentation of systems and procedures. Ability to accurately estimate time and cost requirements in project development and implementation. Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals
