Founded in 1987, Precision Turbo and Engine (PTE), a Wabtec Company, is one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of high performance, aftermarket turbochargers and supporting equipment. Our manufacturing facility, conveniently located in Northwest Indiana, has been a worldwide supplier of high-performance turbochargers and boost control products that have set the standard for uncompromised quality and unsurpassed performance since the late 1990s. How will you make a difference?

PTE specializes in the design, development and manufacturing of forced induction solutions to the new OE engine manufacturers and aftermarket providers in the industrial, power-generation, military, marine, recreational and rail market segments. Our portfolio of product ranges from 50 kW to 1.5 MW (65 to 2,000 HP).

Boost Control Assemblers perform repetitive bench or line assembly operations to produce product according to specifications to meet customer demands in a timely manner while following safe production standards.    

What do we want to know about you?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of assembly experience, preferably in a components production environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.
  • Ability to respond positively to feedback and implement change in process and procedures as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • High level interpersonal skills to work effectively with others to meet production demands
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one's sleeves to get the job done
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to learn new computer software programs, such as SAP Business One

What will your typical day look like?

  • Follow assembly instructions and all other work instructions in the manufacturing process
  • Place parts in specified relationship to each other.
  • Install bolts, retaining clips, screws, or otherwise fasten parts together in proper order and configuration.
  • Inspect components and complete assemblies for conformity. 
  • Follow all component handling procedures.
  • Work at different work stations as production needs require and work on line where tasks vary as different model of same product moves along the line.
  • Identify and document products manufactured, including serialization.
  • Perform assembly jobs based on priority of task assignments in chronological order.
  • Monitor inventory levels of components, advise supervisor of need for additional components, and coordinate activities with sub-contractors for finished materials.
  • Notify supervisor of identification of non-conforming parts.
  • Conduct final inspection of finished materials and assist and mentor other employees in final inspection process.
  • Generate reports of backorders and inventory controls of specific manufactured product lines, as assigned.
  • Follow all Company policies and process procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • You will be required to stand, walk, and sit frequently
  •  Handling cast iron, aluminum and stainless steel parts up to 15lbs frequently and occasionally heavier parts all the way up to 50lbs.
  •  Safety approved steel toes and safety glasses to be worn at all times.
  • Face shields, gloves and other PPE will be required occasionally with specific job tasks.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
