As Otis’ head of investor relations, you will serve as a key spokesperson and liaison for the financial communities for an internationally recognized brand with almost 175 years of history and at the forefront of innovation, to keep the world moving.  This role works closely with executive leadership as well as colleagues in finance, legal, and communication teams to represent the company’s value.  You will perform as a strategic business partner with a deep understanding of operational performance, capital allocation, transformation execution, investor positioning, and enterprise value creation. This highly visible role will shape and execute a strategically focused investor relations program, significantly impacting Otis’ short- and long-term financial strategy and messaging.

The SVP, Investor Relations will be based in the United States, ideally in the Northeast and will report directly to Otis’ global EVP & CFO.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with the CFO to develop an investor relations program that provides transparent, well managed communications that reflect the Company’s performance, strategy, and future opportunity.
  • Evaluate, design and implement policies, procedures and guidelines on information provided to investment community.
  • Proactive and regular engagement with the investment community, both sell side and buy side (including existing and potential new investors), building relationships via in person meetings, capturing their suggestions and concerns and managing expectations in line with the internal company outlook.
  • Ensure external reporting compliance, as well as accurate representation of Otis financial & operational performance, and business outlook.
  • Close monitoring of stock performance, gaining insights of trading dynamics and drivers behind them. Assess changes in the investors base.
  • Support Otis’ CEO & CFO with quarterly earnings reporting activities and investor events.
  • Support Otis’ CEO & CFO in building the equity story & investment thesis and regularly update/ tune as the business develops.
  • Suggest ideas to address investors’ concerns to support stock performance.
  • Establish and coordinate the investor relations calendar, schedules & logistics, monitoring trading and ownership trends.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders in the business units, to maintain a thorough understanding of the Otis business, competitor activity & performance, and remain current with global macro trends, relevant to our markets.
  • Oversee the development, design, writing, production and coordination of investor relations communications documents, press releases, and other investor materials for conferences, events and road shows.
  • Oversee the company’s capital structure and support in the relationship with the rating agencies and lending parties.
  • Collaborate effectively with the broader finance team (FP&A, Accounting, Finance Business Partners etc.) to identify opportunities to improve the company’s financial position, results and create value.
  • Be the recognized expert for Otis senior management and the company’s board of directors regarding investor activity, stock performance and peer company comparisons.
  • Review and develop a solid understanding of the following areas: (a) cash flow monitoring and reporting; (b) hedging for interest rate, currency and commodity risk; (c) corporate finance structure and funding (e.g., funding sources and instruments, capital structure, dividend program, investment appraisal, portfolio management, etc.); (d) stakeholder relations related to external funding, and (e) capital allocation levers (e.g. dividend, share buyback, inorganic).
  • Maintain strong working relationships with external financial market news teams and internal communications colleagues.
  • Complete questionnaires, data requests, RFPs, DDQs received from investors, consultants and potential investors by drafting and completing investment proposals.
  • Develop your team through the acquisition, coaching, and engagement of talent.
  • Embody the Otis’ Absolutes and leadership behaviors, be a role model and lead on our culture statements.

The Person:

  • Extensive Investor Relations and/ or Capital Marketing (sell-side preferable) experience.
  • Successful background building and maintaining investor credibility.
  • Solid understanding of corporate governance and “best practices” as a publicly traded company.
  • Demonstrable experience combining finance, communication, and marketing competencies to effectively control the flow of information between a large multinational public company, its investors, and the company’s financial community.
  • Proven ability to create and analyse financial models to measure company performance relative to analyst and investor models, simplify complexity into investor narratives, and to effectively position the company among its competitors.
  • Superior business acumen and intellectual curiosity, with a broad understanding of business organizations, functions, management concepts, and strong operational & commercial focus.
  • A global/ growth mindset with in-depth knowledge of financial planning, cost and general accounting, budgeting and corporate finance.
  • Executive presence, with advanced interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely present data and research, performance drivers, recommendations, and communicate productivity & growth narratives.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities, able to excel in an active and complex global environment with exposure to business transformation.
  • Understanding of pricing realization and service margin expansion.
  • Strong collaborator and desire to empower others.
  • Effective decision-making ability and excellent influencing & negotiation skills.
  • Ability to lead in crisis management, if required.
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or relevant field. (Master’s degree/ MBA in Finance preferred).

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this role is USD $310k - $390k. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may change in the future. Pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

This position is eligible to participate in our annual executive short-term Incentive plan and is eligible to receive equity awards under the Otis executive long-term incentive plan.
