Senior Analyst, Payroll – Human Resource Service Desk

The Technology Group and Human Resources Services are internal functions providing global operations and business support across Brookfield Asset Management business segments.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager, Global Payroll, the Senior Analyst, Global Payroll is responsible executing and supporting the services outlined within the Global Payroll function.  The role will require partnering closely with our outsourced global payroll vendor, Human Resources (HR), Finance and other internal and external stakeholders. 

Partnering with the respective Brookfield companies’ HR teams, the incumbent oversees the audit and processing of all employee data changes, approves payroll funding and journal entries within our vendor managed agreements.  The Global Payroll function will lead the payrolls of Asia, Middle East and support the payrolls of North America and Europe. 

This is an office-based role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Designated Payrolls:

  • Process payroll changes and other special transactions including all employee data changes, maintaining time and attendance records, and ensuring proper entry / load of data into the payroll system
  • Execute a standard audit and proactive data verification process for all payroll data to ensure information is correct and maintained properly, at both the employee and employer level
  • Variance and validation reporting including balancing and controlling earnings and deduction totals; inspecting system output such as registers and standard reports, determining and correcting out-of-balance conditions. 
  • Creates and prepares general ledger entries for interface in collaboration with HRIS and Finance. 
  • Prepare and process where applicable, any regulatory and tax reporting requirements.
  • Prepare wires and fund payroll; monitor for completion and mitigate any stopped workflows. 
  • Answer general employee and HR inquiries related to pay and tax.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Gather payroll data for inclusion in financial statements; research and prepare special reports for management. 
  • Lead payroll projects and initiatives, such as system enhancements, process automation, and payroll integration.
  • Partner with the Payroll Manager to ensure solutioning of the overall payroll process to drive required service level results.   
  • Assists the Payroll manager with capturing and responding to escalated issues, policies and procedures, government agencies, payroll functions, and the operating companies. 
  • Assists payroll manager with year-end global reporting. 
  • Audit payroll process documentation to ensure accuracy
  • Ensure payroll dates / timelines are met for employees and any statutory bodies
  • Provide back up support for the Analyst when on leave

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 5 years Payroll experience 
  • University or college degree (HR, Business Administration) preferred 
  • Payroll and timekeeping expertise including troubleshooting, analysis, compliance and reporting 
  • Proven complex multi-company payroll administration and audit experience 
  • Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge 
  • System / database troubleshooting, utilization and detail orientation to data integrity 
  • Experience working with an HRIS system.  Workday experience would be an asset 
  • Team Lead experience or similar preferred
  • Prior experience on a shared services team preferred
