Who will you be working with?

The Staff Enterprise Application Engineer is the owner of the Information Technology (IT) product backlog, responsible for IT requirements gathering, Feature and User Story creation and maintenance and day-to-day SCRUM (Kanban) oversight. This individual is the primary conduit between the IT project team and multiple projects and SCRUM teams coordinating multiple deliverables for customer facing production projects simultaneously.

How will you make a difference?

  • Define and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring it aligns with the overall product vision and business objectives
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather and prioritize product requirements and user stories.
  • Work closely with development and QA teams to ensure they understand and deliver on the product vision.
  • Proactively work with development teams to align platform and software roadmaps and ensure appropriate capacity for PI commitments
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the development team, answering questions and providing guidance throughout the development process.
  • Lead sprint planning, review and retrospective meetings to ensure that development is on track and aligned with business goals.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze product performance, gather user feedback and adjust product backlog accordingly.
  • Ensure that the product is delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality.
  • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams to facilitate effective communication and understanding.

What do we want to know about you?

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or equivalent years of work experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in managing end user computing services in a large, complex, and global organization.
  • Experience defining and prioritizing product features and requirements for multiple customers and product variations.
  • Proven experience defining and prioritizing user stories for non-functional requirements.
  • Proven experience as an Agile Product Owner or in a similar role, preferably in the locomotive transportation industry.
  • Proven experience pivoting away from a PI plan and adjusting priorities as needed
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban, and an ability to apply the right tools and techniques
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to uphold team culture and motivate a team towards product goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of product development processes, user experience and technical aspects of backlog management.
  • Have networking experience and understanding of network Protocols, DNS, VPN and Load Balancing.
  • Have scripting experience in shell, python.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Overall IT generalist
  • 5+ years experience working in an Enterprise production environment
  • 5+ years experience in RedHat Linux and Windows administration.
  • 5+ years experience in VMware and Docker or similar container technologies.
  • Experience working with infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform or Ansible

  • The Position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled meetings (Melbourne only).

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold environmental conditions.  Is occasionally exposed to loud noise.
