This individual will be responsible for supporting and overseeing all aspects of financial and accounting activities at the venues they support by performing the following duties.  The role is the strategic Finance business partner to the Regional Vice Presidents and provides leadership, functional guidance, and valuable insights to leadership teams across venues. This role serves as an interdependent part of the core business unit leadership team within the business unit or region and serves as functional leader for venue based DOFs. As a business partner to RVPs, this role provides business/financial perspective to help make optimal business decisions, uses financial skills and diverse sources of information identify profitable opportunities, anticipate challenges, and creates competitive advantages and drive performance. Role has responsibility on accounting oversights of supporting venues and balance sheet review/reconciliation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Business Partnering and Business Unit Performance: Creation and embracing the culture of business partnering by working with the AST (Arenas, Stadium and Theaters) Division Regional Vice Presidents of Operations, the Regional DOF and Venue DOFs within the business unit/region, together with the RVPs are jointly responsible for achieving optimal operating performance without losing sight of all measured KPI’s. Review financial performance of each venue within the region, analysis of variances, trends, forecasts, and budgets. Challenge existing strategies and/or recommend alternate strategies to continually improve effectiveness of the business or financial management. Highlight potential operating opportunities and weaknesses with SVP Finance, Regional VP Finance and Regional VP of Operations. Additional duties as assigned shall include business development and contract renewal analyses.
  • Functional leadership: As a functional leader of the region, own the process of sourcing, hiring, and training Finance talent across the venues by partnering with venue GMs and relevant HR business partners. Constantly identify high potential talent for future movements. Engage in succession planning discussions with Regional VP Finance and Regional VPs of Operations. Plan and coordinate coverage at venues (vacancies or new venue openings).
  • Accounting and Balance Sheet oversight: Has a fiduciary responsibility of the overall accounting within the region. Establish a timely review schedule of balance sheet review to ensure proper accounting are being followed in conjunction of GAAP, ASM requirement and Client requirement. This role should complete Balance Sheet review of his/her venues at least twice a year and manage any remediation/action plan thereafter post review and report out to Regional VP Finance. Additionally, ensuring venue compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements, tax filings and ASM Global Policies and Procedures.
  • Taskforce Support: Assist with the finance operations of venues that the role supports as necessary as circumstances arise.
  • Finance Transformation Support: Assist the venues in implementation of various new systems as necessary, champion the usage of such systems, and partner with various corporate personnel to maximize system efficiencies.

Supervisory Responsibilities  

  • Oversight of approximately 50 venues. Manages the Directors of Finance at the individual venues. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Additional support from 3-4 Sr. Directors of Finance to help manage the business performance and accounting oversight of the venues. The Sr. Directors of Finance work under the direction and management of the Regional VP Finance and Regional Director of Finance.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience   

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university
  • 7-10+ years’ experience in public accounting and/or financial management at a supervisory level or as department head
  • Finance experience in venue management industry is preferred.

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is preferred.

  • High degree of comfort in managing multiple assignments and priorities simultaneously.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CPA is preferred.
