The Technology and Operations (Tech & Ops) Risk team is responsible for providing specialist Operational Risk advice, assurance and acceptance/approval of decisions made across the Technology, COO and Supplier Support Units.

Do work that matters

The purpose of the role is to be a leader within the Operational Resilience Operational Risk team as part of the Security Operational Risk function that supports Technology.  Work with the Executive Manager to provide Line 2 independent services over Line 1 effective implementation of the Risk Management Approach, the Operational Risk Management Frameworks, and actively uplift risk capability.

Key responsibilities for this role includes:

Technical

  • Working as part of a team of professional SMEs to provide independent, pragmatic and value adding operational risk advice, assurance and approval/acceptance for business disruption risk and risks linked to operational resilience across the portfolio (in line with Line 2’s BEAR accountabilities).

  • Monitoring and reporting of 3LoA activities to the Executive Manager, including BAU management of the Risk Management Approach, the Operational Risk Management Framework in support of CPS 220.

  • Contributing to the oversight and monitoring of business disruption risk, risks linked to operational resilience including associated controls, issues and incidents, change risk and obligations in support of the CPS 230.

  • Lead, plan, execute and manage independent Line 2 reviews over business disruption risk and control areas.

  • Lead independent assessment of risks associated with emerging and plausible business disruption scenarios including associated control environment.

  • Supporting the appropriate identification, escalation and reporting of all related operational resilience risk matters to the relevant stakeholders, including the relevant NFRCs, your EM/GM and to the Technology and Operations CRO.

Leadership

  • Work as part of a cross-skilled and curious team that can support a range of areas both analytically and commercially, speaking up and contributing to appropriate Line 2 oversight and challenge.

  • Provide ideas for Line 2 risk management and assurance activities, analytics, and reporting. Contribute to a culture of learning and collaboration.

  • Role model behaviours that are consistent with CBA values expectations and leadership principles. Provide a safe workplace for all team members, customers and visitors.

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders to become a trusted advisor through using commercial acumen, practical recommendations and assisting the business to understand where prioritised focus on key risks matters is required.

  • Develop strong and cohesive working relationship with key stakeholders across the Group to support effective management of business disruption risk across the Group.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Background in Operational Risk, including technology skills. Knowledge of applying CBA’s operational risk frameworks, standards, policies and procedures.

  • Background in technology resilience, business resilience (nice to have).

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of industry standards and frameworks in particular key regulatory standards linked to operational resilience including CPS 230 (and/or equivalent), SOCI Act.

  • High quality written and verbal communication skills, report writing, evidence gathering and data capabilities including ability to reason with supporting data.

  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with Senior Management. Ability to articulate technical risks and concepts to a variety of stakeholders.

  • A curious and humble mindset, understanding of external trends and changes, interest in learning, to build risk management best practice.

  • Corporate knowledge – Strong understanding of governance and board reporting, preferably in financial services.
