About the role:
The Technical Architect (TA) is responsible for guiding the Application Development team through the development process. Ensures development is being done right the first time and has an understanding of how their products relate with other products, and insures interdependencies are in focus.

What you will be doing:

  • Actively support the vision, plan and practices of the Support & Maintenance team and Management.

  • Align architectural initiatives, solutions and proposals with product and solution strategy

  • Work with other “leads” in Support teams, Maintenance, Technical Architect lead and the Support Manager to ensure defined, consistent, repeatable processes with quality outcomes - focus on doing it right first time.

  • Work within agile setup where ownership is expected from the Technical Architect.

  • Architectural ownership within Support on a defined set of EPC Products.

  • Keep being on top of Technology evolution, always go for the best technology solution while being pragmatic to keep cost, quality, and time under control to suit customer needs. 

  • Ensure that as much as possible, that all solutions enhance the long-term supportability for the customer, whilst staying consistent with the product roadmap and/or account plan for the customer.

  • Ensure the solution is consistent with what has been contracted. Unless otherwise directed, Support work is for Defects against specified functionality, Change Request related to new functionality is not a Defect and must be handled according Change Request procedure.

  • Acts as a source of direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff.

  • Develops, documents, and executes thorough technical test plans and protocols to ensure that architectural changes are working properly. Performs risk identification role. Conducts testing that may include the use of batch scripts, online processes, databases, or interface files.

  • Own the Product Architectural practices for the solution. This includes definition, communication, training, mentoring and adherence to the Products’ evolution.

  • Ensure consistency with, and evolution of the standard functional/technical Support practices.

  • Focus on and drive continual improvement to the Support solution, organization structure, employee roles and responsibilities, work standards and practices. This also extends to considering the overall support solution.

  • Monitor and control of Support deliverables to ensure quality standards are established, maintained and improved.

  • Accept the reality of, and always work constructively with the constant tensions between time, cost, scope, quality, and the evolving nature of our business.

  • Rostered as required for our 24x7 operation as backup of the Front Line Support Engineers.

  • Assist the other support functions as Development, Business and Quality Analysts & Level 1 Support Analyst when in need for expert functional advice on the defined set of Products and technologies

  • Work with Delivery Managers and other team members to prepare solution design and specifications, use cases, and other requirements documentation as required.

  • Provide developers with clear and unambiguous specifications to enable them to produce quality software.

  • Assist test analysts to verify the functionality of the system according to requirement specifications.

  • Follow and adhere to company competence center TA processes, tools, certifications, methods and methodologies.

  • Engage closely and frequently with customers, build an effective working relationships to ensure project success.

  • Record and track team risks and issues and change logs in Jira, ensuring accurate information is maintained. Create risk mitigation strategies as required.

  • Update project/support information in Sharepoint and Wiki sites.

  • Update customer specification in Project Solution description document or other as required.



What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience.

  • Drive, intelligence and a ‘get things done and get them done well’ attitude.

  • Must have led the technology direction for multiple projects and led or presented architecture concepts outside the realm of immediate workgroup.

  • Demonstrated experience as the application development system designer or technical lead on many projects.

  • Experience in full life cycle development with an emphasis on incremental, iterative development and deployment is required.

  • In-depth knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles (including waterfall, iterative and other modern approaches to software development).

  • Experience in solutions design and requirements definition disciplines leveraging model driven design-based tools and techniques including conceptual solution component models, business process models, use cases, etc.

  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team, and time management skills.

  • Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed.

  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsive to internal and external customers and contacts.

  • Advanced knowledge of system development tools and languages is required: Java, JEE, SQL (Oracle), XML, Hibernate, EJB

  • Good knowledge of k8s technology, RESTful Services, Web Services, SOAP

  • Knowledge of: RESTful Services, Web Services, SOAP, kafka, JMS, MQ will be an asset.

  • Significant experience in the Information Technology industry, experience in Banking, Payments and Financial terminology is an asset.

  • network and systems management, and related infrastructure technologies and practices.

  • Very good English.

  • Able to understand and deliver effective solutions that meets both customer and EPC functional and business drivers.

  • Demonstrated experience to understand, evolve, implement, and adhere to best practices.
