Domestic Manager - State & Local Tax

Role Overview:

As part of the Domestic Tax team, the Manager Domestic Tax will oversee and complete tax projects, provide innovative tax planning, and lead the state tax accounting and compliance activities. As a manager, you supervise, develop, and coach teams, and drive assigned workstreams by independently solving and analyzing complex problems to develop top-quality deliverables.

The McAfee Tax Department consists of over 20 employees located in India, Ireland, and the US. The department is split into three groups: Domestic, International, and Tax Accounting. Operationally, the Tax Team strives to operate as a single unit to achieve McAfee’s goals and objectives. The Domestic team is responsible for federal and state income taxes, franchise taxes, sales taxes, and property taxes. This position will be organizationally part of the Domestic team; however, the position will take a leading role in state tax accounting for the quarterly tax provisions.

This is a Hybrid position located in our Frisco, TX office. When you are not working on-site, you will be working from your home office. We are only considering candidates within a commutable distance to the Frisco, TX office and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

About the role: 
•    Manage and lead state work including tax accounting, SOX, legislative changes, and compliance
•    Develop, mentor, and supervise team members to deliver top-notch results
•    Independently tackle and resolve intricate problems
•    Simplify complex messages, highlighting and summarizing key points
•    Develop a point of view on key state trends, and how they impact McAfee
•    Collaborate with others to ensure a comprehensive multi-jurisdictional tax strategy
•    Foster and maintain significant McAfee relationships
•    Leverage technology and innovation to boost efficiency and effectiveness
•    Develop new skills outside of comfort zone

About you: 
•    Ability to analyze unstructured data, technical guidance, and make recommendations to leadership
•    Experience with multistate tax issues and controversies
•    At least 9 years (we’d love more!) of tax experience, including the previous 6 years’ experience being primarily state tax experience in a managerial role.
•    Progressive technical experience in a state tax role supporting a large multinational company
•    Broad knowledge of partnership tax accounting and compliance
•    Proficiency in modeling and using tools such as Alteryx
•    BA/BS/BBA is preferred; Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting is a plus
•    Active Certified Public Accounting license is a plus
