SCOPE OF THE ROLE:
A strong contributor role within Domestic Payments accountable for ensuring the team are meeting daily SLA’s/Control monitoring. Being the voice of Domestic Payments in various governance/control/internal scheme forums.
The role will support others in formulating the strategic agenda for the Domestic Payments through a range of activities, which typically include:
- Analysis of business volumes, drivers and key KPI’s to support senior management in the setting of the function’s long term (3-5 year) plan
- Development and delivery of control frameworks to ensure processes and services for business area adhere to established standards and time frames
- Support to Divisional projects and change through the development of business cases and deep dives.
- Provide support to ensure that Santander is meeting its obligations through scheme reporting and business change.
- Development of diagnostic and analytical research to support process improvement opportunities
- Management of specific Divisional People agenda elements such as succession planning, talent management, resourcing, and training.
- Tracking of FTE against set targets.
- Contribute to functional initiatives and objectives
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Managing Risk & Applying Control:
- Promotes and encourages good culture and behaviours personally and across the Team, in line with I AM Risk.
- Identifies, assesses, manages, and reports risks, taking proactive personal responsibility for ‘doing the right thing’ in compliance with regulatory requirements and our frameworks and policies.
- Responsible for RCSAs, progressing actions that could minimise or mitigate risks identified. e.g.. conduct risk, operational risk etc and ensures 100% completion of mandatory training and any other role specific training required.
- Proactively supports the bank in meeting its business, regulatory and stakeholder obligations in respect of Financial Crime Compliance. Including identifying, deterring, detecting, and disrupting money laundering, sanctions non-compliance, terrorist financing, bribery, corruption, and tax evasion risks that arise by way of its activities.
- Ensures that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Policies.
People:
- Coaches and mentors other professionals and manage the knowledge base of the functional area / projects.
- Actively demonstrates cross team collaboration, sharing learning and best practices to contribute to overall team effectiveness.
- Contributes fully to the on-going success of the team through effective team working, seeking efficiencies and working smarter
- Fosters new ideas, cross team collaboration and agile ways of working.
- People: tracks the effective implementation of the short to medium term People Agenda that sits alongside the business plan.
Customer:
- Ensure the needs of the customer are met by monitoring of key payment SLA to deliver against scheme/regulatory requirements
- Provide control oversight to ensure customers payments are processed in a timely manner and any issues are corrected or escalated as required
- Seek ways to improve the customers journey and ensure their needs are reflected in the recommendations presented.
- Stakeholder management: achieves business effectiveness through establishment of successful business relationships with stakeholders.
Commercial:
- Demonstrates a good knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, its regulatory environment and key drivers.
- Periodically reviews products, processes, systems or controls to identify business performance opportunities
- Transformation: contributes to the implementation of the transformation roadmap for the function through analysis and presentation of recommendations.
- Projects: supports projects within the function through the development of business cases and progress monitoring.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Technical Knowledge:
- Sound knowledge of Financial Services industry with an emphasis across Domestic payment Scheme (BACS, Faster Payments, CHAPS and Cheques).
- Good understanding of the company, its products, processes and governance.
- Good understanding of risk, regulatory and compliance frameworks as well as ability to address areas of concern through actions that mitigate
- Understanding of current strategic agenda of San UK, its business model and financial drivers.
- Previous process improvement and performance measurement experience.
- Proven diagnostic, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Project management skills to plan, monitor and execute projects.
Managerarial knowledge:
- Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a team across the whole of Payment Operations.
- Prior experience of developing high performing teams and the ability to bring teams together to meet the needs of the business
- Ability to build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to present findings from analysis in a clear and articulate manner.
