JR67303 Sr Category Supplier Manager

As a Category Supplier Manager at Micron Technology, Inc., you will handle a large strategic supplier or suppliers through sophisticated techniques, models, and processes that result in high quality supplier support when providing goods and services. This includes but is not limited to activities that support critical initiatives, RFQ, sourcing, cost savings and commercial tactical functions.

In this role, you are expected to collaborate with Supplier Account Manager and supplier account teams across multiple categories, in an indirect leadership role. You will engage in and support the development and implementation of supplier strategies to optimize cost, supply, and quality.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commodity strategies, as well as drive supplier development through innovation and teamwork
  • Maintain sophisticated knowledge of industry and market dynamics, and knowledge of commodities to drive supply chain solutions ahead of Micron's needs
  • Leverage and apply strong understanding of contracting and negotiating, risk mitigation, and supplier relationship management to manage supplier relationships and provide sustainable cost, quality, availability, and technology solutions with adherence to procurement policies
  • Ensure the respective commodity meets the business demand and cost requirements
  • Conduct periodic executive reviews of commodity sourcing strategy in partnership with internal collaborators to shape strategic business objectives through aligned roadmaps
  • Review and pivot sourcing strategy when required in response to changing market conditions and develop mitigation plans to ensure business continuity
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to drive supply chain optimization, understand affordability, set cost targets and define cost reduction roadmaps through detailed understanding of supplier's financial targets, business objectives, and margins
  • Identify efficiencies and drive cost reductions projects
  • Apply should-cost models that are benchmarked and relevant to the global marketplace
  • Collaborate internally to drive and develop key performance measures/metrics and supervise supplier performance against these expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement
  • Lead supplier evaluation, analysis, selection, and sourcing for assigned commodities
  • Support supplier qualification activities to ensure the commercial development of a strategic supplier

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Business Administration/Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field of study.
  • 5 years of experience in Purchasing/Procurement, Supplier/Partner Relations or Supply Chain.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently or with a cross functional team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Business or communication training (Bachelors or equivalent experience)
  • Possess relationship skills / ability to “be the face of Micron”
  • Negotiation training or experience
  • Experience working in a small team environment
