Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Director, Insurance Financial Management to join our Finance team.

About the role

As a Senior Director, Insurance Financial Management you will coordinate, monitor, analyze, and forecast business unit & overall company financial performance. As a Senior Director, Insurance Financial Management you will consolidate financial results, influence strategic decisions, and provide valuable insights to senior leadership about the company’s financial trajectory. You will regularly interact extensively with senior leadership, including Finance senior leadership.

You will report to the Vice President, Financial Management.

Pay Transparency:

The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington is: $192,000 - $252,000 per year. The base pay for this role in all other locations is: $172,800- $226,800 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar’s unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.

 

Responsibilities

  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Support members of Insurance Leadership team across Insurance function (Medical, Network, Contracting, Growth) to enable the effective execution of the annual and multi-year operating plan.
    • Provide valuable insights of performance on an ongoing basis to leadership.
  • Management Reporting:
    • Lead the production and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, highlighting key trends and variances for leadership and investor relations.
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Execute business-unit financial strategy including the identification, validation, and tracking of initiatives that improve overall financial performance.
  • Strategy Evaluation
    • Drive multi-year strategy planning process in close partnership with business-unit leadership, including ownership of all investment/business cases, evaluation of strategic growth opportunities, establishing targets and evaluating progress against achievement, etc.
  • Financial Innovation:
    • Consistently evaluate FP&A processes, systems, and tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and strategic analysis.
  • Leadership: 
    • Develop, manage, and coach a high performing finance team; own cross-functional Finance team processes on ad hoc basis.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Communicate financial results, trends, and recommendations to leadership, employees, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of public or large company experience in FP&A roles within healthcare.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated ability using expert financial modeling skills to effectively translate data into actionable insights, strategies, and financial plans.
  • 5+ years of experience leading budgeting and planning processes.
  • 5+ years of proficiency with building and enhancing core FP&A tools.
  • 5+ years of proven ability to build and develop high-functioning finance teams.

Bonus Points

  • Masters Degree; Business Administration, Finance, or Financial Analysis.
  • Consulting experience. 
  • Experience at a public company.
  • Experience in the managed care, healthcare or insurance space.
  • Strong analytical & problem solving mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills and executive presence. 
  • Engages and executes against priorities with a strong sense of accountability and urgency.
