Director, Public Relations, Global Marketing Excellence
Do you have extensive public relations experience supporting a global business? Are you interested in being a valued thought leader, guiding PR for product launches, marketing campaigns, and human-interest stories? The Director, Public Relations role is part of the Global Marketing Excellence (GME) organization and is accountable for the development of Omnipod’s global public relations strategy, as well as providing guidance on our organic social media presence and how we work with content creators. This person will partner with marketing and communications colleagues and agency partners from around the world supporting both consumer and healthcare professional targets to raise the level of PR for Omnipod. This position requires someone who has the experience and creativity to come to the table with their own big ideas, yet who is also happy to roll up their sleeves and leverage their network to pitch media themselves. These responsibilities will be achieved in close partnership with, input from, and on behalf of the product franchises and regional commercial marketing teams, as well as in close partnership with the corporate communications team that is responsible for Insulet PR. This person will report to the Vice President, Global Marketing Excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Global Public Relations expert and thought leader for the Company, leveraging PR to drive brand awareness and loyalty and to bring Omnipod to mainstream media, cementing Omnipod as the insulin pump of choice. Our mainstream media presence currently varies from country to country, and we are looking to optimize this. In addition, in the international markets, we are also interested in leveraging PR to build awareness of automated insulin delivery as a solution for diabetes to help fuel adoption.
- Develop global PR strategy and toolkits and execute with excellence in close collaboration with Omnipod global marketing teams, external agencies, and third-party vendors. Strategy to be applicable across the 25 countries (and growing) where Omnipod is prescribed.
- In partnership with regional teams, define how the organization can best drive local PR in countries across the globe, being sensitive to local regulatory guidance/limitations, while remaining consistent with global brand guidelines and PR strategies.
- In partnership with the regional and local marketing teams, create and execute grassroots/local media programs – inclusive of idea generation, pitching media and executing plan.
- Work with creative agencies and GME leadership to tie PR strategy into overall Omnipod integrated global marketing plans.
- Build a strong relationship with PR agency and partner with/empower/inspire them to create world class campaigns that deliver business results and build brand equity.
- Develop Omnipod community playbook in partnership with global marketing teams and agencies and share across the globe. Help marketers nurture and grow the Omnipod community and drive retention and loyalty.
- Develop global influencer strategy and execute with excellence and in partnership with global marketing teams.
- Work with global marketing teams to identify Omnipod customers for local human-interest stories and PR opportunities.
- Measure the effectiveness of all efforts and then use learnings to improve efforts going forward. Consider the following KPIs: Quality and quantity of articles published in mainstream media, impressions, share of voice, brand sentiment, website/landing page traffic, and ultimately, leads. Partner with agency to lead global monitoring and shareout of Omnipod media coverage and to outline implications/actions to be taken.
- Work with global marketers to develop high quality PR briefs and create a seamless and efficient process to execute campaigns.
- Work with global marketers and PR agency to create supporting launch materials from key messages and top FAQs to partner tool kits and beyond.
- Think outside the box and bring new strategies and ideas to Insulet to further grow the Omnipod brand and market share. Evangelize these, and internal best practices, across the organization.
- Partner closely with corporate communications and include them in PR strategy and execution to ensure all efforts are coordinated.
- Ultimately, help lead the effort to keep Omnipod relevant and fresh for consumers around the globe and drive awareness and interest among healthcare providers (HCPs).
- Leverage best practices to grow our Omnipod community and take action to support the loyalty and vibrancy of this critical group.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Desire to make a significant impact on the lives of those with diabetes, their families, and friends.
- 15+ years of global PR and marketing experience, agency or client side; Global mindset and experience doing marketing and PR with other cultures.
- Demonstrated track record of leading both development and execution of PR strategic plans to drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and loyalty.
- Highly-connected with the media and very experienced pitching stories, both consumer and healthcare.
- Experience working with celebrities to drive news highly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the digital space and how to leverage PR/marketing tactics to drive success. Deep understanding of and appreciation for the power of social media.
- Enterprise mindset and strong strategic thinking skills: use PR and influencers to grow the business and reach more consumers.
- Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry – as well as consumer – PR experience preferred. Consumer and health care practitioner marketing/public relations experience is ideal.
- High emotional intelligence and ability to successfully collaborate and influence across all levels and disciplines around the globe.
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to interpret data to make recommendations: comfortable thinking and talking about analytical questions, as well as measuring ROI. Leverage analytics to improve strategy and tactics and to drive the business.
- Strong project management abilities, with the capability to prioritize tasks, track progress, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, while holding others accountable. Able to see the big picture, but also dive into the details.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for pushing creative boundaries while maintaining brand consistency.
- Strong understanding of market trends, consumer insights, and cultural nuances to create impactful and relevant PR campaigns.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate and present creative concepts to stakeholders.
- Leverage highly effective written and verbal communication skills with peers and leadership; help represent the Marketing organization to internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership
- Intellectual curiosity, including the willingness to dig in and learn
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including skills in PowerPoint and the ability to present concisely to influence others
Physical Requirements (if applicable):
- Can be remote, hybrid or in person, but ability to travel to Acton as needed/minimum 6x per year.
- Travel is estimated at 20-30% but will flex depending on business needs; International travel will be required.
- Ability to attend project related consumer events, tradeshows or conferences (often on weekends/holidays).
- Flexibility to take morning and evening calls to align with international business hours as needed; if living in the EU, willingness to work east coast hours if necessary.

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $153,000.00 - $229,950.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
