The opportunity:

The ideal candidate will have experience in the insurance industry, preferably within Marine and Energy classes, and will be responsible for portfolio underwriting and managing energy fast-follow insurance products. This role requires a strong understanding of the London insurance market, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to oversee procedures within and outside the organization

What you’ll be doing:

  • Underwrite and manage Markel’s Fast-Follow energy portfolio, ensuring long term profitability and growth
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and with broker counterparts externally
  • Conduct thorough and regular whole-account assessments and make informed underwriting decisions steering the portfolio towards constant profitability.
  • Collaborate with other underwriters and team members to achieve business objectives efficiently.
  • Monitor aggregates, including catastrophe management, within corporate thresholds and maximum capacities.
  • Maintaining accurate capture of aggregation, risk and technically rated premium data on the company systems.
  • Portfolio Analysis using various software and data analysis systems & reporting on portfolio performance as required
  • Prioritise customer experience with best-in-class response times to all stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage efficient and effective workflow procedures within the portfolio

Our must-haves:

  • Experience in the insurance industry, preferably within the energy market.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrate being an active member of a team and contribute in an open environment with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and PowerBI portfolio analysis tools
  • Experience with Cat / Aggregation Management software would be an advantage.
  • An ACII qualification, or being in the process of obtaining it, would be beneficial.
