Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role 

As the largest provider of PHP/IOP programs and psychiatric services in Illinois, Compass Health Center is one of the fastest-growing behavioral health organizations in the country. Launched in September 2023, our newest location in Silver Spring, MD, is home to top local talent in behavioral health care. This interdisciplinary team of trailblazers is building our adolescent and adult programs from the ground up alongside the leadership of well-established clinicians and doctors working in PHP/IOP behavioral health care for the past decade.       

We are seeking a Patient Advocate to act as a liaison between patients and clinical staff to communicate or resolve incoming inquiries regarding finances, HIPAA, and information as needed. If you are passionate about providing your patients with exemplary care, while being sensitive to their individual psychiatric conditions, you would be a great addition to our team. 

What You'll Do: 

  • Reviews the accuracy of demographics, insurance, completion of forms, organizational data to be entered in the chart in a timely manner. 
  • Conduct New Patient Orientation/Administrative Intake for accurate intake paperwork collection. Functions as a service regarding insurance and other administrative procedures, 
  • Point of contact for billing information for Urinary Drug Screening (UDS) coordination and Genetic Testing coordination. Obtains approval to move forward with services.
  • Follows up with financially responsible party who is not present at intake to review program cost and collects necessary documents for patient to start recommended program.
  • Follows up with patient’s parents if joint medical decision-making consent is needed and obtains necessary documents for patient to start recommended program.
  • Primary contact for weekend and after-hours patient web inquiries.
  • Maintain patient charts according to confidentiality standards and policy. Maintain all patient’s, visitor’s, and staff’s confidentiality according to HIPAA requirements and Compass policy.
  • Performs clerical duties to ensure efficient operations of the center to include computers, office equipment, copiers, fax, scanner, postage equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Who You Are: 

  • Possess a High school degree or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred 
  • 2-3 years of experience in a healthcare/clinical setting
  • Insurance benefit knowledge in healthcare preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professionalism and professional image
  • Strong organization and planning skills; detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Computer proficiency and ability to learn new software
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible Schedule - Able to work assigned schedule

This range includes multiple career path levels across the organization; where you fall in the range is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, your years of experience, type of experience, location, and education/certifications. Compass reserves the right to update these ranges.

$53,000$59,000 USD
