Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for an internship opportunity. This position will be located at our Defense Systems Sector in Roy, UT.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Strategic Deterrent Systems Division (SDSD).

Responsibilities may include:

•    Develops processes by studying requirements; research, design, modify, and test production/deployment methods and equipment
•    Collaborates with Design Engineering on design to ensure practical manufacturing and fabrication solutions
•    Works with suppliers to develop manufacturing planning for successful preparation and execution of MRAs
•    Researches and evaluates commercially available tools and equipment to support deployment activities
•    Investigates root cause of discrepancies and implements corrective actions
•    Troubleshoots existing processes to improve safety, quality, cost, and efficiency
•    Develops and maintains detailed work and install instructions for assigned products/processes
•    Educates/trains operators on new and existing processes
•    Establishes and maintain a program project plan and schedule that is aligned with the program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
•    Provides on-site engineering support during field installations
•    Provides advanced technological ideas and Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to resolve technical questions and ensure compliance to the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) Statement of Work (SOW) requirements
•    Implements Lean practices to continually identify opportunities for improvement

Basic Qualifications

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2025.
  • Be majoring in or having majored in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering Technology.
  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2025.
  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)

Intern Pay Range:

Bachelors: $21.75 - $26.75 per hour

Masters: $31.50 to $33.25 per hour
